Re: Hello Hordijk System
Your system belonged to Matthias Ochs. He asked Rob for this last panel as a custom one and Rob put the «Oxo» on the film for the panel. I believe this is Matt's nickname.

I thought it meant he could attempt to run a highly illegal raffle and try to get $10k for it on Reverb at the same time.Neovintage wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 1:11 am Your system belonged to Matthias Ochs. Matthias is an absolute capital wiggler. Awesome to talk to over the years, haven't seen them around though recently, hope they are well!!
Check their soundcloud, some of my fave modular tracks and plenty of great examples of some Hordijk stuff.

Now I just have to wait ca 18 months.
I’m switching from euro to Hordijk, not because of the sound but I spend more time investigating new modules instead of actually playing with my gear.
My plan is to keep it strictly Hordjik.

Re: Hello Hordijk System
I plan on doing the same!! So is it like ~2 year wait and ~$5500USD?
Re: Hello Hordijk System
I orded the standard system this week, this week it is an 18 month waitinglist. Eur-$ I will not guess How the currencies will change in 18 months.southphillysynths wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 1:23 pmI plan on doing the same!! So is it like ~2 year wait and ~$5500USD?
Re: Hello Hordijk System
What are you using to sequence your modular?
I don’t want a960 clone, more something like the metropolis or Five 12 vector, is there such a sequencer in 5u?
Or can I convert say the vector to 5u, change the plate and the jack, is that possible?

Re: Hello Hordijk System
I know Rob uses a Koma Komplex which was a huge amount of fun when I played with it on one of his systems - not 5U obviously, but still definitely worth a play. You could look at the Ryk 185 (which inspired the Metropolis) and I think is due to come back in due course in 5U format, or you might be able to find an old one that someone made if you're lucky! https://rykmodular.bigcartel.com

Based on his videos, it seems Rob was also quite pleased with pairing his system with the Korg SQ-1.

Re: Hello Hordijk System
I have a few Koma Komplex sequencers and they pair extremely well w. modular. The ability to cross-patch stuff like an LFO into the Gate Length for a sequence or using the Koma gate out to trigger a percussive sound while simultaneously using that sequence's cv for some other modulation is great. The Koma gives you a lot of interfacing possibilities as long as you have a handful of 1/8" to 1/4" cables.xahdrez wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 5:42 am I know Rob uses a Koma Komplex which was a huge amount of fun when I played with it on one of his systems - not 5U obviously, but still definitely worth a play. Yes - I think he usually recommends SQ-1 if you're on a budget, Koma Komplex if you're not! That said, I've yet to find a sequencer it doesn't work well with!swannodette wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 8:19 amBased on his videos, it seems Rob was also quite pleased with pairing his system with the Korg SQ-1.
Re: Hello Hordijk System
Koma komplex is sadly discontinued
Re: Hello Hordijk System
Two SQ-1s it is then.
Re: Hello Hordijk System
Have you previously put a lot of time into the Metropolis and Vector? If so, why not carry on with those? I've not used a Vector, but it seems to straddle the divide between central brain / composition tool and generative plaything / source of raw material pretty well. Chaos, or 'havoc', is a big thing with Rob and how he has designed his system. Andrew Fitch of Nonlinear Circuits takes up on the chaotic CV / sequencing side of things where Rob leaves off. Some CGS designs too. Stuff like BOOLs, 1/n, Statues, Bi-di Chopper, Modulo Magic, Analog Logic, Slope Detector, etc. I've found the Rungler to be most interesting when making its own merry way through the undergrowth without an external clock.

Re: Hello Hordijk System
There's also this:
I was set on the Detachment 3 - Archangel for the Hordijk, but it's been over 3 years since they made the last batch. If anyone has an update on that, I'd love to hear it.
I might just give up and slum-it with a 960.

Re: Hello Hordijk System
Thanks for the tips, such a nice sequencer
Re: Hello Hordijk System
my ideal sequencer would be a Grp R24

Re: Hello Hordijk System
I had the R24. Very nice one. Lots of possibilities but I missed the ability of using independant steps and program myself. Something like a CGS/Voltron sequencer would be great.
