First impressions.
...What the hell is this thing???!!
Second impression.
...WOW.
Third impression
...oh man... sleep is the enemy.
Forth impression
... the bass is the smoothest and most rubbery I have ever heard.
In the video you are watching you are witnessing exactly my first time with DPO. Do I know what I'm doing? No. Like most of Make Noise's modules the DPO is deep, which is why I love them. Not impossible just deep. Something that grows with you. I really believe that. Then again I'm no expert on synthesis. I try and I learn a little bit everyday. When I first got my modular back in 2004/2005? I left my first patch in for about a year and a half before I got the balls to pull it and start again.. and again. Later I carried the Doepfer manual around with me forever, stealing glances whenever possible and literally banging my head against it hoping something would seep in.
Anyhoo I love Make Noise stuff because for someone like me it offers not only quality modules but they offer something that develops alongside the synthesist. A synthesis, pardon the pun, between man and machine. I want to thank Tony very much for working with me and allowing me to preview the DPO. I met Tony at the NOFUN fest in 2009. We shared my merch table. I thought he was weird. I couldn't understand what the QMMG was. I had no idea what the hell he was on about. Then the next night Most of my gear was stolen and I was pretty much devastated and dazed. Tony offered his sympathy and kindness and I never forgot that. It was a nice distraction to witness his enthusiasm as he explained away the functions of his modules to whomever seemed interested.
Since 2009 I have been trying to play catch up to what Tony was on about. I know I never quite will but I am entirely comfortable with that. It makes me quite happy knowing there is a madman out there like him, that I can look forward to discovering something new.
