Any chance the 70s thing will be easily interpatchable with euro?
I keep hoping for more exotic and 'feature complete' designer versions of things like the dark energy, set up to be a stand alone music easel type thing but still compatible with my euro - really hoping something along those lines is the next wiard project after the 300 series is done with, but this might work too.
Even considered getting an XS and just filling the jacks with 3.5mm adapters, but switched jacks = broken normalization unless I'm actually pulling out and putting in the adapters all the time, plus I'd want a sequencer or touchplate keyboard in my easel so it could be usable in a backpack all by itself (ideally there would be 3 usage scenarios - simple no cords basic monosynth prepatched, then I could get complex with patchcords, the I could get more complex with the euro)

I don't know what Peter has in mind but an Evenfall Mini Modular would fit all three of your use cases very well Mitch. No seq or touchplate controller but everything else you ask for is there.
I recently landed one after years of looking and I'm blown away by it - such a shame these things didn't see wider production.

As Old As This Thread Is ...
... i expected some magnanimity would eventually rear its head.
A possible cue would have been the quip about Subcon which comically implied the extent of involvement was perhaps to scrawl "... low quality graffiti ..."
The "love fest" that is this thread is predominantly the result of the specific and intentional efforts of one person; cEvin key.
I would be surprised if any other program participant would suggest they have a competing claim for the outcome to date.

Oh, that was merely my standard design prejudice Phil - I am repulsed by the visual appearance of these two releases - and not intended as a comment on Subcon themselves, or suggesting the limits of anyone's involvement. I've also posted more than once welcoming this development and collaboration from the very beginning so my comment should be seen in that light.
I'm still using my M24, M28, M15s, M10s and M13s very regularly and I'd be very happy to see the whole range back in high quality production as part of a licensing deal one day.

Very happy to see planB again.
I like my 2 m15 so much!!
'm very interested in the m16 spectral mutiplexer.
But not sure, I could handle the front panels of the Subconscious modules.
Their redesign, I could probably play only with a very dark sunglasses.
The classic planB design is for me one of the best.

Plan B designs are brilliant, I just hope subcon will put out more vanilla faceplates. This is great news all round. I used to speak to Peter years ago and always found him very helpful and enthusiastic, hopefully things will all be good and we will see some euro Miltons.

I'd have to agree with that... I hate to say it, but the new faceplates really turn me off buying a M15, as shallow as that is.wavecircle wrote:I just hope subcon will put out more vanilla faceplates.
I'm all for the variety that exists in the euro panel world. But this one's not my style... each to their own I suppose.

The M15 design does confuse me somewhat. It has 1v/oct input, 2 exp FM inputs with attenuators, 1 lin FM input with attenuator but no attenuator for PWM. I find that strange.

Before I got my Subcon m15 I was worried enough about the faceplate that I was planning on designing my own and having it custom made. Plan B's old faceplates are clear and well laid out - I generally prefer the "scientific instrument" look.
But once I started playing it I stopped caring. It sounds great, that's all that matters to me in the end.

I may have been a little out of line on the Plan C comment. I total agree with the above statement (on all points). Good for you Peter!wavecircle wrote:Plan B designs are brilliant, I just hope subcon will put out more vanilla faceplates. This is great news all round. I love the Ancient Eyeball Recipe motif on my Subcon M15/M37 combo and look forward to more like it.
Go make some music.

For what it's worth, I'm glad I contributed in some way to the restitution of owed monies (and restoration of goodwill) by purchasing the SubCon Plan B reissues. The fact that revenues from my purchase would be used to "put right what once went wrong" greatly influenced my decision to invest in these pieces, even at a time when budgeting for them was not an easy thing to do. Best wishes to all involved -- and reissue the Heisenberg Generator next!

I think Peter is quite deserving of kudos (and subcon too). Seriously, here's someone who made mistakes, admitted to it, and is taking the steps to correct them, not only that, but he acknowledges and addresses his shortcomings and strongpoints. I think this is rather deserving of the community's support and positive vibes, and I can only hope that certain other wayward synth manufacturers can also set things right.
Also, i'm just sick of being negative. There's better focal points for hostility.

bsmith: it would be awesome to see people with lots of euro give them pokemon values and do battle

Obviously it is great that Laurie got repaid. For people who fuck up like this it shows that it is possible to put things right & puts PG ahead & in a different class to others who have acted similarly.
(EDIT 26AUG2013 - maybe not - 6 years on from coughing up $505 that I could not easily afford, I still have not received goods or refund)

Well, each to his own unless you want the original faceplates (clean, elegant style) in which case you are s.o.l. I don't think it is shallow at all to care about what you look at when you are playing your instrument, and a big part of PG's talent for design is his interface design IMO. I'll pick up some of these if they become available with original style faceplates, otherwise the faceplate art is a turnoff to me, it really repels me, sorry.DomMorley wrote:Each to his own...
