I'm right in the middle of a months long angsty internal debate over what to do about hardware delay too (modular BBD? modular digital? pedal BBD? pedal digital? if digital, then Tape emulation? Pitchshifted delays?)

Exponential audio-rate fm isn't very interesting really. Linear is where all the nice timbres are. I don't know what rate you're sampling at but you could maybe try getting a stereo ADC and use one ch for the input and the other for modulation, those are pretty cheap.

btw - these samples that richard devine put together should give an idea of what the ECHOPHON can do...

(btw - it's still in dev... still both analog and digital changes to be made, but all your comments have been very valuable - thanks)

hearing these demos makes me wonder why elektron hasn't hired you to code up some FX algorithms for their various machines. drool.

Personally don't like the demos. But I don't think I don't like the echophone, on the contrary, seems fucking awesome. Just who the fuck will sponsor all the money for all the awesome modules?

i think they are an improvement over other makenoise designs.. but maybe this just opens the window for more 3rd party panel runs :)

These new ones have a certain Robotech feel about them. Can't say I love the look, but the pics so far have been shitty phone pics, so hard to say for sure.

I Love Make noise panel designs I were confused in the begining but with one more look i think it is pretty logic.

I'm really digging the panel graphics too. Much clearer. But still classy.

I want details on how this works too.

like, what happens if I put a tap tempo clock in at the same time as modulating the delay time with an LFO?

The new panels look awesome with the new knobs too. Not so sure how I feel about the new knobs on the old panels. I think it may just be a matter of not being used to them.

Hmm, totally different taste I guess. Panel art vs panel clarity, I guess clarity wins here.
I know a lot has been said about how confusing previous panels have been, but honestly some of the old designs have a cool quirkiness and flow that this doesn't seem to have.

Do I miss the crazy arrows and lightning bolts that I once complained about? Maybe I do, so what!
