Strictly aesthetics when I talk about "flow" here, btw. Not even a concern for most, I know.
...Back to the "awesome"

This thing sounds awesome!

i like the new panels and the new knobs. a little more plain and straight forward which i like. and a good size for playability.

Yeah, I am wanting the signature Makenoise demo vids. I agree about the panels too... they're downright minimalist compared to the earlier models.

yup, if scrawling on the back of an envelope is classy :hihi:

looks even worse than usual to me, but hey, the module itself looks very interesting

Has anyone actually said that the panel design is final?
Those look like proto panels to me... I could be wrong, but wouldn't be at all surprised if the final ones look different.

The audio demos are what peaked my interest. Reminds me of my favorite bbd delay but crazier. From the panel I'm liking what I see too. I'll be curious to see the price.

the panel designs are prototypes - done just in time for the show... there will be revisions for echophon - and most likely (though i can't speak for tony) for DPO as well.

it sounds awesome tom, fantastic, cannot wait to add this to my burgeoning modular - the pitch shifting is wildly awesome.

headed back over to NAMM soon myself for a final day of oogling...

p.s. Tom... I'm loving the Soundhack plugins I got the last day of 2011... how close is the Echophon to the plugin?
lot's of little differences that make it quite a different beast:

+pitchdelay is just the pitch shifting section, but has more delay time (10 seconds vs. 1.7 seconds).

Echophon has a separate fractional delay and pitch shifting delay (in that order) with separate outs for either. the feedback can go around either branch.

the pitchshift has a range of +/- 2 octaves in quarter tone steps. it has range control which drops that down to about +/- 1 semitone for chorusing. 1v/oct input

the delay time can be sync'ed or can deliver a sync pulse for nice sequencer interaction.

still working on a few details - trying to improve comb filtering, feedback, etc., knob and CV response.

overall it's probably a bit louder and more aggressive than +pitchdelay.

Tom how many HP I need for that beast?
I want DPO + RENE' + ECHOPHON (in this order) in the same 84 HP row..

Can't wait to echophonize everything.

most likely the echophon will be 20HP, rene is 34HP.

not sure about DPO - but likely to be the same as the prototype that was shown at NAMM (28HP)

that gives you 2HP for expansion!!

of course it'll be skiff friendly. when's the last time tony released a non-skiff module?

it'd be a crime if this were not.

but also keep in mind these were demoed at NAMM in Monorocket skiffs with the MN bus boards.

I wonder if short delays will track 1v/oct for Karplus-Strong.

Is it April yet?

no need for 5v.... short delays won't track 1v/oct, but with scaling you might get there as time is 2^n log scaled (i'll test with maths). definitely skiffable.
