That is so lovely!
I had the opportunity to play one of these years ago at the School of the Art Institue of Chicago. My friend's fellow student brought me in, sat me down in front of it, and said, "Okay, play!"
I was so intimidated by it that all I could do was set up your basic VCO-ENV-VCF-VCA patch and noodle around. Wish I could have had a few weeks with it, instead of just one evening.

It has so many ins and outs and a pulse width modulation w/ 2-3 inouts. It has four types of outs I think: pulse outs (w/ on/off controlled inouts), saw out, PWM out and dual clock outs. There are a few ways to mix and match these outs and 3 vc inputs for timing. It is just a very open architecture. I have never had the chance to use one. Seems awesome on paper:ear ear wrote:What is it about the Emu VC Clock that makes it stand out for you? I just did a quick search and found an article in Sound on Sound that says:MindMachine wrote:Congrats on the score!! The Emu VC Clock is one of my favorite spec'd modules. I hope you get to keep one VC Clock.
My favourite of the more unusual Emu modules is the voltage-controlled clock. This features a built-in LFO with mixable pulse and saw waves, of which you can control the frequency and pulse width. By messing around with the waveform levels you can gate the clocks to one of two outputs, resulting in complex alternating syncopated triggers from two outputs. This is great for polyrhymic pulsing rhythms.

But it´s got only two VC oscillators, or am I missing something (not too familiar with Emu modular, I must confess)?

Okay, I see. That´s quite massive.
Shame I will never go modular.

thanks for the schems, good reading.
is there enough info there for someone to tackle the 2200 vco with the wave converter submodule? or just the wave converter submodule? that looks interesting to mine eyes........

I'm familiar with the polyphonic keyboard with the numeric keypad (I used one for a couple of years with the Emu modular that was owned by the college I was attending many years ago). But I see that the other keyboard with your 'keeper' system is different. I've never seen that version. What is it, and why did you choose to keep that one over the other one?
I didnot keep any keyboard.Dave Peck wrote:I'm familiar with the polyphonic keyboard with the numeric keypad (I used one for a couple of years with the Emu modular that was owned by the college I was attending many years ago). I think I would've kept one of the E-mu keyboards, 'just because'... But that's just me, and your 'keeper' system is positively beautiful! And I'm mainly into black-faced MU stuff with 'big knobs and 1/4" jacks'! I know I'll never own one, but since I read Allen Strange's book (which I've read three times!), I've wanted to get my hands on an E-mu modular just to try it out. Strange was obviously impressed with it. He literally 'wrote the book' on early Buchla systems enabling his familiarity with those systems, but he apparently used E-mu's in his examples because they did what he wanted them to do.roginator wrote:I didnot keep any keyboard.Dave Peck wrote:I'm familiar with the polyphonic keyboard with the numeric keypad (I used one for a couple of years with the Emu modular that was owned by the college I was attending many years ago). also i built DUAL LFO module based on Potpourri LFO electronics with original BLANK panel and KNOBS
if you ask me EMU should do that in past .. awesome small module for this system!
so here is my DIY EMU Dual LFO module

Very nice.
I think this was actually a single 8-12 voice polyphonic system rather than two separate systems, though you can obviously configure it anyway.
The Poly keyboard could control up to 16 voices and has a neat 60 step sequencer built in. The other digital keyboard is probably there for when the previous owner wanted to keep things simple.
That keypad/keyboard is the design that SCI licensed,I believe for the Prophets. The other digitally scanned board was the one Oberheim opted for.
A shame to split up a poly system as it would be tough to ever get the modules together again, but one does what one must.
Very nice refurb work on your keeper!
