I cut way back in size for something really portable. It all fits in a lightweight aluminum case for transport. I also use Battery on my laptop for percussion sounds.

There's a naked Benjolin in the corner and a soundbox on the BD which was connected to the ride via a DIY spring contact mic.

The drums are used to trigger the modular. We recorded with a cello which sounded great and really worked alongside the synth/drums. When we played a gig last month we found the cello was too quiet even when micd up. Deciding whether to put it through the modular, through a decent bass amp, or both .

Something new for this Saturday's performance in San Francisco during the Outsound Music Summit with the group Tender Buttons. Still sorting things out, but there are 3 voices going on here (one with stereo panning).

Tom Djll will have his Enclave case and Eurorack modules on the other side of the stage. (If you're in the area, it'll be at 8pm, August 1st at the Community Music Center, 544 Capp Street @ 20th in SF.)

Modular user since '81: I have systems in Frac, Eurorack, and banana jack.

Hi! Even if the case has changed, can you explain partially the interaction between the drum and the modular, give an idea of your patch (not ALL the patch!) and the kind of sounds you make with your drumodular?! As a former drumer I'm really curious ... and keep us informed when you'll have sounds from this session !!!

Yes it is! Have you recorded there? Matt is a top guy and our tracks sounds ace!

Hey! We recorded 2 tracks on the day and re-patched adhoc for each session so I can't remember specifically. Looking at the image above I can see the triggers are controlling clocks, resets, uScale pitch shift, and the Basimilus Iteritas. Oh and I used a floor pedal to control Frames. I tend to mult the hits so a trigger will control a number of elements specific to one sound/patch/sequence. Sorry that's probably a bit vague. Next gig/recording session I'll make some decent patch notes to share. Type of music we play is dark ambient, doom jazz, industrial style.

That was my setup last night. Played with a bass player (who played through the SDD 3000). Great evening! :sb:

First night out with the Hordijk modular! :tu:

My little modular. :)

Image

When I play in bands, I've got it interfaced with and controlled by my Minibrute to make a big lead synth, but when I go solo it functions standalone as a noisemaker until I get the time to build myself a Penrose.
I gotta get out and play some more gigs.

Nice case too. What is it? Did you have to put rails and power in?

thanks !
its a Zero Haliburton suitcase.
My friend, a local pdx custom case wizard, Ritzy Sheens, put this together for me.
He had to cut custom 126hp rails/frame for it, and install power.
So, yeah, it was a blank slate.
Absolutely love it..
He's available for all manner of custom jobs :sb:

Played my first few solo shows ever this week with Blanck Mass, Gabe Gurnsey, Sun Araw and some others, this is the setup I've been using:

Mainly on a drone/kosmische/minimal tip, going for a Harmonia, Cluster, Kraftwerk, Terry Riley kinda thing.

Yeah I play in a band with him, that's where we practice! I'll have to ask him if I can hear your tracks (if you don't mind)

stwerewolf - that is a sweet setup and fine Casio.

revolt crews - 'Ritzy Sheens' what can I say. Sounds like the name of a Tubes character.

Did an improv set last night with this setup. Make Noise Shared System (plus a few things) for live sampling of the Memotron and a smidge of DPO drone.

I built two cases 9U104hp each. Building two more in the new year "base" style.

I will put a couple of videos for good measure as the photo is missing some modules:

Little synth

Post by bentoncbainbridge »

José Vargas made this case for our students at School of Visual Arts MFA Computer Art department. Later we moved the Row 30 to the back (power supply has a compartment to hold it as well). Final configuration of this synth contains MVIP and Maths.
