Mixing Modcan systems A & B
Mixing Modcan systems A & B
Hi, I'm curious how many of you have both, A and B systems.
I went the A route, now I'm thinking about getting a B case as well. (I'd like to add a ZO and eventually some Serge).
I wonder how happy you are with ergonomics of using both, System B and bananas together.
Thanks.

Curious why you'd want to mix A and B if you are planning on expanding into Serge? A Series ZOs can be found second hand, or direct from Cyndustries if you're brave.kaoss wrote:I went the A route, now I'm thinking about getting a B case as well. (I'd like to add a ZO and eventually some Serge).
Yep, other than that big sequencer (and the forthcoming touch sequencer) I think Bruce has pretty much caught up with bringing B Series stuff to A Series.dude wrote:mixing jacks is my least favorite thing about multi format patching. i have tried it and it deeply fucked with my workflow. i am sure others would disagree and validly so. if you dig bananas, i think any of the b series that don't have switching jacks can be made with bananas.
I don't like mixing jack types either.
sometimes i use tiptop 1/8" stackables with with 1/4" adapters on them for this. not the most elegant solution but it worksdude wrote:and he has mentioned doing the touch seq in a series i think. if you enjoy bananas, stick with banana love. i am still hoping someone can come up with 1/4" stackables as i really really could use them.
hmm, i hadn't thought of doing that. i wish gur would just make some 1/4" stacks. i swear people would buy them once they saw how advantageous they would be for patching.kaoss wrote:sometimes i use tiptop 1/8" stackables with with 1/4" adapters on them for this. not the most elegant solution but it worksdude wrote:and he has mentioned doing the touch seq in a series i think. if you enjoy bananas, stick with banana love. i am still hoping someone can come up with 1/4" stackables as i really really could use them.
Re: Mixing Modcan systems A & B
i want to add a ZO (or two) to my system and the modcan format size seems a bit more appealing to me than euro plus i'd like to get some serge stuff eventually hence the banana preference.parasitk wrote:Curious why you'd want to mix A and B if you are planning on expanding into Serge? I regularly interpatch my modcan B with euro using either makenoise format jumblers or 1/8>1/4" adapters and i don't feel like it slows me down or anything. adding the bananas to my system might be a different story however..??
if i decide to get the ZO in modcan format i'd add some modcan modules in A. it seem like all B modules are now available in A as well (not convinced if i need the touch sequencer)

that's exactly what i was going to suggest to bruce. supposedly there used to be similar 1/4" cables by moog if i'm not mistakendude wrote:hmm, i hadn't thought of doing that. i wish gur would just make some 1/4" stacks. i swear people would buy them once they saw how advantageous they would be for patching.kaoss wrote:sometimes i use tiptop 1/8" stackables with with 1/4" adapters on them for this. not the most elegant solution but it worksdude wrote:and he has mentioned doing the touch seq in a series i think. if you enjoy bananas, stick with banana love. i am still hoping someone can come up with 1/4" stackables as i really really could use them.
i remember dean batute telling me about some vintage splitter cables for moog modular. i believe they were actually sold by moog at the time? i tried to search it but got no results. i have some custom cables made by redco.com, they can make stuff like thisdude wrote:i am still hoping someone can come up with 1/4" stackables as i really really could use them.
