The more I look at it, the more I like fac's suggestions, with the modifications I've listed below:

Power interface can go on the back of yours. (-1 space)
Remove one Q109 and replace it with a UEG. (-1 +2 space)
If you don't want the other Q109, look into an Oakley looping ADSR/VCA. (-1 +1 space)

- 1 x Synthesizers.com Q124 Multiples (1 space)
Excellent suggestions. My cabinets are portable so I tend to forget power modules can sometimes go in the back, and with the extra space, the UEG is definitely a better choice than a Q109.

Not too sure about the multiples, though. I usually get by with a bunch of y-splitters.

I have only one Q124 in my 72-space system and not always use it. In a 16-space system, I'd rather use that space for something else.

Me too! I just noticed the partial "rail" on the back in his pics. Took me a second to realize what it was for.

Guess it is a matter of personal preference...

...or personal organization skills! I would surely lose y-splitters as fast as I lose other plug adapters! :hihi: I do use my multiples quite a bit, though - like having all the plugs right there in one place.

With the Q124, I would be able to say, route my LFO to many other modules as well, isn't it kinda necessary?

Yes, it's necessary. You will also want to route the CV pitch and gate outputs from your keyboard or MIDI interface to various oscillators, envelopes, etc.

When I started my system, I purchased a bunch of these:

Those splitters allow you to send a signal to two destinations, or more if you daisy-chain them. They may not be as convenient or elegant as a multiples module, but they save cabinet space.

Yep, and definitely necessary if you're using the UEG as a sequencer. (Clock/LFO needs to go to both the UEG and an EG.)

A Kenton Pro Solo MkII can free up 3 spaces: those of a midi interface module, slew limiter and LFO.

That's a very good point.

I've said as much here before, but a Dotcom MIDI interface is one of the few disappointments in their otherwise stellar lineup. Limited range, no integrated LFO, no mod wheel support, no mode switching (high/low/last note priority) or retrigger/no trigger switching. Really a mediocre product for anything other than the most basic of duties. For the price of two of them one can purchase a Kenton that blows it out of the water, while also offering the LFO, greater octave ranges and programmable portamento.

A slew limiter still has other useful applications, but it's not a "must have" unit.

Re: MIDI Interfaces

The Kenton units look great but I like having an on-board MIDI interface in my system. I do admit I've been using my Q104 less and less each time, and I will eventually "upgrade" to the Grove Audio interface, which will allow me to sequence various voices and clock my analog sequencers simultaneously. For beat-sync'ed LFO's, I plan to buy the SSL Tap Tempo LFO, but you can also use the hard sync feature on the Q106 or LFO-Two and "tune" the LFO to the beat.

No I haven't. I planned on using my Oberheim SEM as an external Midi-CV control, which it can be used as. The only thing I'm unsure of is if I can still use the internal portamento on the SEM for my future modular.

On another note, I'm thinking of maybe switching to a eurorack as my first modular only because it seems as though the parts are in circulation a lot more than the dotcom format and it may be easier for me to afford and build based on how much is being sold used.

I'd be interested in spending around $1500, do you think I can get more for my money with euro format honest opinions?
