The sick thing is, I'm already planning my next order. I'm thinking the VDO, DVDO, noise/random generator (I'm wishing I would've got this right to begin with), quad LFO, dual FS, dual lag, and another half-sized module (likely either a control, or cross-fade). I figure this would give me tons of great sound options, but I'm always open to alternate suggestions or opinions. And as tempted as I am to ask for suggestions on modules to get some "buchla-type" sounds, I'm going to stick with trying to make my modcan sound like a modcan

Got my first modcan order!
Hello everyone, I just received my new modcan B order last week and figured I had to come somewhere people might care (my friends don't seem to really appreciate how cool it is). Right now I have a sloped case half-filled with a VCO, dual multimode, dual mixer, quad envelope (which is providing me LFOs for now as well) a 4VCA and a midi to CV. I've started small but have ambitions to continue expanding (hence all the quad and double modules). And even though this setup is very basic, I've been able to get lots of weird and wonderful sounds.

oh man nice, we were just having a conversation about this this morning. if you don't get 66 control you will be sorry you didn't down the line once you play with one. drawing your own modulations shapes especially in such an immediate fashion is next level synthesis. welcome and take advantage of the coolest modules ever built!!!
and fuck yeah, make the modcan sound like modcan. screw the E/W noise.
at this point i totally believe that modcan transcends coastal boundaries. bruce is setting new standards! you will love the dual vdo! if ever you want to talk shop or need some demos to see/hear certain modules then please let us know!

Yeah I think the 66 control will beat out the cross-fade. It looks like it'd be lots of fun to work with. I'll likely just hold off and get a scanner at some time in the future to do my cross-fading (like I said, I want to keep expanding!). The timbre module also looks very cool, so I'm still considering whether I'd get more use from that one than the Dual FS.
Thanks for the responses!

congrats! welcome to the wonderful world of Modcan!
regarding your next order, unless space in an issue, go for the Dual LFO instead of the Dual Lag. The Lag is just a lag, but the Dual LFO can be a lag, an lfo, a vco, an eg, or even a clock divider. Pretty sure it can do some more stuff I didn't mention, too.
You might be thinking, I'm getting the Quad LFO, why do I need the Dual LFO, too? Because both are awsome, and despite the name there really isn't all that much in common between the two. Get both!!!

lol, actually rezz is right on. both dual lfo and quad lfo. dual lfo can even fe a filter and divide by n as well. but you do also need control. the answer is more case space. if anything would conceptually be on the block, i would think external fx would be the most immediately simple thing to acquire through stomp-boxes and/or computer or other rack gear. modulation is of the utmost importance. that is where most of the fun shapes and processes come from. oh the dual lfo and quad lfo can be vcos too so you get 6 vcos in there which can be coaxed into tracking...dual lag won't do that for sure. plus you will get another vc-lag if you ever consider the env. fol.

So I finalized my next module set. I decided to go with the phase/timbre mod, e-follower (that I way I can have my lag/slew, and also run my guitar through everything), VCDO, DVDO, quad lfo and dual frequency shifter. Bruce convinced me that I probably don't need the noise/s&h module at this point with the combination of all the others, so I figured it could wait until a future time. Looking forward to creating lots of weird sounds : )
