ATTN: Chicago Wigglers
First off sorry if this is considered spam but I wasn't sure where else to ask this. So im going to be getting married with in a year, and im trying to convince my wife to be how amazing it would be to have a huge 5U system playing the wedding march (or a rendition of it) instead of the typical organ. And she keeps saying "...and who is going to do this?" so I figured id come on here and see if there was anyone willing to do it. There would be compensation of corse, im not asking for favors or free-bees or anything. Thanks.

wow sounds pretty unanimous that STG should do it! we dont have a date as of yet, i recently got a good promotion at work so when the next paycheck comes in (about a week) ill have a better idea on when. ideally we'd like to do october. thanks for the responses guys
oozitron: yeah its going to be a stretch. going to be a lot of back and forth debating, but its pretty much the only thing ive envisioned for our wedding. she can have complete control over everything else. i just always thought it would look so fricken cool to have a big wall of modules off to the side...or maybe even at the alter lol.
STG: Ill PM you and we can go over details. there arent many at the moment though

Of course four or five wigglers with modulars would really make it special... and make the wall even bigger !
I'm sure there's several area modular players that would go for it. I think it would be a blast. It would be like live W. Carlos! Play some string quartets...?
I come to Chicago a lot. If STG is 1st chair I'll take 2nd

i'm really flattered by your collective voice of confidence in my ability to fulfill this man's request, but my question was half rhetorical.
my modular is very small compared to many in the area, it can handle 2 voices at best.
i've actually got a wedding gig (first in a while, actually) on October 22 in Minneapolis, so this would probably conflict. i promise to return your PM, i'd love to discuss it further though.
i'm going to pore over this concept though. i think Oozitron's idea of a synth quartet is a better idea actually. the only way to really play something like this by yourself with a modular is with a sequencer, humans would be more flexible.
you should also think about the music itself. the bridal chorus from Lohengrin actually has a terrible context in the opera itself, so many couples opt for more positive pieces like Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary or (in my sister's case) Bach's "Jesu, joy of man's desiring."
on a side note, Michael Stearns actually played his Serge at his own wedding in 1980. "Marriage Chords" is the piece and it's by far not only my favourite Stearns track, if not one of my favourite ambient tracks period:

I dont want to hijack the thread but I've long wanted to put together a quartet of synths to play string quartet pieces, and maybe mix in the occational TD or Vangelis classic I cant seem to find synth guys who aren't afraid of a little sheet music, and the piano/preset guys dont
know what an lfo is.
the right 4 people could perform the march, provide some chill diner music, and rave out the reception
interested parties in the chi area should pm
oh CONGRAT'S DUDE

Also, and sorry to go so far off-topic here, but any Chicagoans interested in having (willing to have is probably more appropriate) a young, friendly guy come over and witness / play around with your modular setup should contact me! I can bring booze or cook you a delicious dinner or give you cold hard cash. I drool over all the videos and information I can find but have never had the chance to experience a modular in the flesh. Sorry again to hijack but making a response-less thread along these lines is just too depressing of a prospect.
