Macbeth M5/M5N/M5O? Remake
I did some searches and couldn't find this topic, although I'll be surprised if I am the first to ask....
Is there any possibility that Ken will be making any more M5/M5N's?
The 5U format looks beautiful, and I already have an MOTM system, but I like the semi-modular nature of the M5.
There is always used, but I'm pretty sure every other wiggler is trying to grab them as soon as they are up for sale...
edit: POLL

That poll isn't complete....
where's the option "already have one."?
Finally got a chance to brag.

What happened to the 5u modules? I have been looking at the AH site almost everyday for about 6 weeks and haven't seen them. I asked in another thread and got no answer. I would prefer the modules, but might consider an m5 if they aren't actually happening. However, if they aren't happening--even though it seemed like they were going to be released last month--then I worry about waiting around for an m5 that never comes. I know he is just one dude, but he gets me all worked up waiting for awesomeness --- then silence.

I've already sent money to Fenix and there is no question that it is a unique and fascinating piece.
You can spend 25% less, but then, you're not getting an M5.
Let's throw it into perspective, you can buy a Fender Stratocaster for $1000, you can buy a premium Les Paul for $3000. Guitar geeks aside, they don't function very differently and after a couple pedals, the tone will be different but comparable.
Point is, if you want a Macbeth, you want the things that Macbeth does well.
The "I'm broke" poll option was meant as a joke for all of the people who want one but just can't swing it.

totally!... a smallish Modcan B system is next on the list (plus video synth modules). I got financially stomped on in Decemebr/January though with a bunch of unforeseen expenses so it's going to take me a while to recover..BTByrd wrote:Popski wrote:got one! big white bastard. love it to death
Dayum, man! I had already dreamed of your setup. Except mine had 18U of Modcan in addition to the whitewash voyager, M5n and theremin.
But seriously... well done sir!
until then I've got 100 half populated pcbs I can attend to.

nice setup, popski! question tho: why do you have the vcf2 audio output patched into the vcf1 audio input which is normalled to vcf2 audio output? likewise, why do you have the lfo1 output patched into where the lfo1 input is normalled? are your normalled connections effed? (i have this issue on my 2600. it sucks.)
as for another m5n/m5 run... it'd be awesome, but i understand ken not wanting to do one. they're ridiculously big and i can imagine that alone presented a huge hassle to him. not to mention it's easier to sell $500 oscillators than $5k synthesizers.
i'd buy another tho, if i ever came across one and had the cash/space.

uh.....it's a mono synth?modularland wrote:Have any M5 or M5N users been able to get theirs vcos tracking for polyphony? I could never get that to work somehow...
You mean using the osc's with other modules....cause the M5 only has 1 VCA (2 if you count the ringmod too)
I sometimes use it to make 2 different sounds at once.....using the tingmod as a second vca and patching both adrs's separate ........never heard any tracking problems, but I might be tone deaf.
I do notice that I'm not able to get it to track more than 2 octaves.

In that pic, M5n isn't actually patched (voyager gate, cv going to mults?) but there is something weird about the normalling of vcf2 and the VCA on my unit. Everytime I go to diligently figure it out though I get distracted.chiasticon wrote:nice setup, popski! question tho: why do you have the vcf2 audio output patched into the vcf1 audio input which is normalled to vcf2 audio output? likewise, why do you have the lfo1 output patched into where the lfo1 input is normalled? are your normalled connections effed? I must admit I assumed I could do a 3 voice homophonic patch using the expressionist. I haven't tried that yet. I'm going to go give it a whirl now

wrong thread mate - we needed 'new run of M5M model synths being produced'....Ken MacBeth wrote:Hi All- I posted this to another thread for your interest!

i love the self contained-ness of it. really is it that much of a windup to produce?
shame... loads of us are after semi-modulars 2600 style...
