BAD BOYS!

We sadly have to let all the fans of cwejman gear know that the delivery of the SPH-1 will be delayed for about 10 days due to wrongly made front panels. Wowa kindly asks everyone for their patience and promisses to speed up the process as he can!

So that means the end of the wait is in sight - End of Feb?? or earlier.

Oooookay,
There it is !

I'm kinda shocked that the input is mono.

But the sound is really nice, clean, from very subtle to facemelting.

Somehow the idea of spending that much coinage on a module with an error on the frontpanel cracks me up :hihi:

I mean, a typo wouldn't stop me from buying a module if I thought it was worth the price sound and functionality wise, it's just hilarious to see such a glaring error in a high end boutique product.

Some other things have changed on the panel. "Comb Tune" vs. "Spectrum". Notice on the bottom CV inputs, some things have been switched around. Added Feedback, gone is L+R. I was surprised because I thought the module was being revised per the website faceplate layout:

The latest batch at Schneiders (delivered friday last week I think) didn't have this yet. (I bought one of those...)

MMF-1 is definitely still in production, I bought one of those as well from the last-friday delivery. (Ordered it in November though, so, had to wait quite a bit for that one...)

I ordered my Cwejman SPH-2 on 10th March 2010 - and I'm still waiting. So that's 1 year - happy birthday.

I really like the specs of many of the Cwejamn modules but this sort of waiting time is just ridiculous.

Pity.

SB is still showing them as being in stock. Might be worth chasing to see if they've 'misplaced' your order.

Looking forward to getting it.

Okay,

I found out that my unit is not working properly. Channels are not properly balanced : Left channel is louder and has more feedback... :bang:

Any body has had the same issue ? Does anybody know what the trimpots on the back of the module are for ?

Mines on the way - finally - hope it's OK and doesn't have the same problem as yours Carci.

I just don't understand how these modules take so long to get. He makes some really nice stuff but if I have to wait this long for a module I won't be looking at getting any more.

So finally got my SPH-2. Very nice - sounds great. But want to clarify the differences between what I received and what is showing on the Cwejman web-site. There's even a different version showing on the SchneidersBuero web site.

Mine looks the same as the one in the photo in this thread from Carci. So single audio in and the spectrum CV bit is different with Left Comb > Right Comb inputs.

Can anyone shed any light on what all these differences add up to and is the one I've received the latest version?

Cheers,

I guess this is the latest version, yeah.
I had to return mine because the right and left outputs were not balanced in level and feedback level. No big deal, shit happens and I'm sure Schneiders and Cwejman customer service will be great.

Is yours balanced Ian ?
Any other opinion on this new version ?

Carci,

Mine seems fine. Very clean sound and very flexible - very different from say my old swishy pair of 172 modules on my Roland System 100M set up.

Both sides seem balanced OK.

Thing is I don't know what this new version does that is different from the old version and if indeed it sounds different at all. I was hoping there was someone around who knew this or knew what the logic was behind the changes.

For example I'm really not sure what the point of the bypass switch is for?

The Left Comb > Right Comb inputs I'm assuming are normalised together so if you plug a modulator into Left Comb it does them both whereas if you plug separate modulators into them both they are modulated independently.

Cheers,

ian

From what I can gather, your experience is pretty much par for the course with Cwejman: long waits, unannounced module changes, no manuals...

The bypass switch helped me finding out that my unit was not L/R balanced. Apart from that, I don't know...

I think the changes are more about the I/Os, normalisation, control and stuff. I don't see why he would change the sound part of the circuit. But I may be wrong...
Also, I miss the stereo input...

v1 - shown on
http://www.schneidersladen.de/cwejman-s ... ial-phaser
click for biggy pic

SPECTRUM Knob
FEADBACK Knob

Left Out
Mix Out
Right Out

Audio In
Left Spectrum CV in
Both Spectrum CV in **
Right Spectrum CV in
Rate CV in

v2 - as in Carci's Pic

COMB TUNE Knob (Formerly SPECTRUM)
FEEDBACK Knob (Formerly FEADBACK)

Left Out
Mix Out
Right Out

Audio In
Left Comb (Previously Spectrum) CV in - now normalled to ...
Right Comb (Previously Spectrum) CV in
Feedback CV in
Rate CV in

So all in all
V1 has Both CV input for Comb/Spectrum CV - v2 Doesn't (mix before hand if needed)
V2 has Feedback CV control - v1 doesn't

AFAIK
the one shown on
http://www.cwejman.net/sph-2.htm
was the prototype/original plan

Audio in - called Sum Audio
Extra Left and Right in

finally got mine

pleased as a pig in the proverbial

Okay !
My unit is back and fixed.
So here's a quick patch, just for testing.
A110 -> A137-2 -> A120 -> A189-1 (SRR) -> SPH-2

SPH-2 getting fucked up by a cocktail of CVs from Tame machine, LFOs, RCD.
