Re: Behringer VCS3
No speakers. :(
Wonder if it has the same cardboard fake colored aluminum knob brights as the B2500 modules?
Possibly printed paper wrapped MDF cabinet too, based on the scratches at the four corners where the panel nicked the paper? coating. <--This is something you see on super cheap furniture made in Malaysia from rubberwood and MDF, covered with printed 'grain' and 'stain'.
If anyone sees a photo of a current -final pre-production- patch pin, please share. If they're still as short as the early teased ones, they'd be my biggest concern about the playability of this project.

Treat utility modules as stars instead of backup singers.
Treat power supplies like Rockstars instead of roadies!
Chase magic sound, not magic parts.

I dunno. The nicely rounded corners of the case seems rather like real wood to me. Probably cheap wood that is coloured to look like dark hardwood, but still wood.KSS wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 7:41 am

I really wish it had two top panels rather than (what looks like) one giant top panel. While I’m wishing, a foldable version would’ve been cool.

Re: Behringer VCS3
Completely useless opinion from someone who isn't going to buy one anyway: I think it would have been cool if they made this a large and spacious rackmount panel like they did with the 2600 clone, especially since they're excluding the speakers. Place a copy of the inputs and outputs to the front panel for easy integration to other CV synths. Making it a fun-size copy of the original form factor feels pandering. I'm sure they'll sell a frillion of them.

Re: Behringer VCS3
Well, it's a pre-production prototype, so given the other synths that B have at that stage which still haven't been released, add in the current shipping delays, chip shortages and the usual B hype train timeline - 2025 maybe?
Re: Behringer VCS3
Yeah! I´d love to have a rackmount Synthi for sureUnsolicitedDuckPics wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 11:27 am Completely useless opinion from someone who isn't going to buy one anyway: I think it would have been cool if they made this a large and spacious rackmount panel like they did with the 2600 clone, especially since they're excluding the speakers. Also I think that their 2500 modules would be great as a self-contained synth in this very format. Something like a 2600 but with the 2500 electronics instead

Re: Behringer VCS3
I bet a Synthi A clone or a rack mount version of the VCS3 using the same circuitry, could be all on one PCB which could make manufacturing easier.anselmi wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 2:11 pmYeah! What are the thoughts on this versus PIN?

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I suspect that many of the responses that your post gets will wind up being moved to the Behringer ethics thread.

Re: Behringer VCS3
What are thoughts worth that are based on vapourware?
I mean, no one has had the chance to compare both side by side.

Re: Behringer VCS3
Behringer's other bad idea, well they are saying "Since we shared with you the pics of our upcoming VCS3, many people got so excited, that they asked for an affordable AKS synth that has the exact same sound signature.
Here’s a draft proposal only and we’d love to get your feedback. We believe we could produce it for an estimated price of US$ 99.
What do you think?"

Haha, you could have 80 of those for the same price as a PIN. Amazing.

Re: Behringer VCS3
That is about as far away from an AKS that I would want as you can get. Is that "joystick" a thumbs stick controller?Squirrel70 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 2:42 pm Behringer's other bad idea, well they are saying "Since we shared with you the pics of our upcoming VCS3, many people got so excited, that they asked for an affordable AKS synth that has the exact same sound signature.

Re: Behringer VCS3
I'll never own a Portabella but there's like a 50% chance I'll own the Behringer.
I don't really care if it sounds identical to the Pin or a vintage VCS3 (neither of which I'll ever touch and probably couldn't identify by sound), as long as it functions and sounds good (how many bad monos are there, really?).
Re: Behringer VCS3
The Portabella looks gorgeous, while behringer stuff always looks bad. There must be multiple explanations, but it seems to all boil down to "nowadays all you're really paying for is aesthetics".
