So, what sticks in your craw, is Behringer offering a crawfish in response to EMS’ lobster…? ;)

I used to own a VCS3 and have to admit that it is an awful design for anything but the studio, though I did tour with mine a lot. The smaller size would be better for gigging but they should have made a clone of the AKS for that. Though I haven't seen one in person, the knob spacing is a little tight looking in the photos I have seen. Of course I play Eurorack now so I should be getting used to tightly spaced knobs. I guess I am, but still appreciate larger dimensions. Of course the low price makes complaining about that sort of stuff pretty trivial. I have many modules in my rig now that cost in the $300-$400 range now, and those are just modules, not whole synths.

My suggestion would be an optional Southpaw Special Edition, with the joystick on the opposite side.

I was being serious; right handed, color coded, male oriented society is f*cked.

No, nothing happening yet. New product introductions are woefully delayed.

I wonder if it will come out before their CS-80 clone. It probably requires too many custom chips, and you know the backups at the foundries...

I do have to say I would definitely buy their VCS3 clone, after they work the bugs out of the initial few production batches, just to have fun with.

You don't have to ... it's impossible to tell a buggy from a normally functioning VCS3 ;)

lol. I was going to write that I hope they got the "looseness" of the tolerances and tuning and matrix crosstalk of the real thing right for a mass-produced SMT device.

It is possible, this is my job and I'm not Ethan Hunt.
Finest EMS gear service and 208 goodies

I'm not a synths dealer and don't know of any cheap Synthi secret market.
I don't offer support for attempts to build clones of EMS equipment.
Please don't ask, thanks.

On the Behringer Facebook page I asked about progress (or lack of) on the VCS3 and got the following reply from somebody at Behringer
Author Behringer
" we need more time to finalize the product"
So it is still in the works but no real time line....

New batches of clones seem to be falling off the Behringer truck every day lately. Now they have a Prophet 5 (16 voice?)
The VCS3 is really the only one I'm interested in though. Because I could never afford a real one.

Seems to be based on the Mk. 1, telling from the matrix layout.

I think I might be interested, if only slightly.

I wonder if you’ll be able to turn off MIDI control of the individual oscillators?
