I've been working on a new drone album with my bandmate, and this is one of the tracks that probably isn't going to make it onto the final album, so I thought I'd share here. The patch is simple, like most of my patches: four Dotcom oscillators, each going into a separate filter (Dotcom State Variable, Dotcom Transistor Ladder, Corsynth OTA, and the newest addition to my system, the AC VOKS filter, which sounds effing great to my ears). I'm modulating the State Variable filter with a combined ramp-trapezoid wave, and then adding delay, reverb, and compression to all four voices.

Thanks KL! :hail:

That bass comes from the sub mix output the CGS57P BI-N-TIC. Is it a VCO? Is it a VCF? Is it both a floor wax and a dessert topping?

I use a subwoofer in my setup and I love adding deep sub output to my mix. I'm working on a piece called Music To Look At The Moon By. It also uses the CGS57P as part of its core with the sub outputs being processed by their own filter (an Oakley DLF).

I started playing it yesterday and the dogs got really upset when the house shook.

I'm glad some of the low-end from this piece came through in the upload. Unfortunately the audio quality of YouTube videos leaves much to be desired.

Thanks again for the kind words!
Rich

Nice filter work gigapatrick. The resonant filter from SSL is on my short list. I wish I had never sold my Polyvoks Filter. I had the first prototype from Analog Craftsman and it had some special dusty, fur mojo. Good chord selection too. A fine performance.

Here is a work with the STG Time Module Suite and the Dove Audio Museq D900 sequencer.
The Museq dual lanes are handling the bass line to a Dove Waveplane VCO and a secondary midrange part to some STG Oscillators banks. The Museq Bank Pattern feature is used quite a bit here. A lot of variations of the pattern and repeat ratchet timing were set up.
The STG Envelope Generators are utilizing the sync24 bus and LFO repeat features to pulse repeat the upper plucked sounds from the Dove WTF VCO. An Echo Fix tape delay was used to fade in and out echo feedback at times.
The synthesizers.com Q960 was use to transpose all the sequences. I manually switch-stepped the sequence and started and stopped it for the hard breaks.
The Museq and STG are sync'd together via the sync 24 bus. Drum sounds are via Groove Agent in Cubase. Mostly recorded in real time. All sounds except the drums are from the 5U modular.

The Museq sequencer is very playable but mostly I used it here after programming all the pattern changes and steps. It is still in development but shows tremendous potential with the other sequencers in my setup.

Using the NDLR to generate a midi clock to the modular.
Starting with the Dove Audio Museq D900 sequencer playing a five pattern bank play. Two lanes are playing counterpoint to the WTF and Waveplane oscillators.
Then a Synthetic Sound Labs 1650 Mini Sequencer plays a bass line through the STG VCO's.
A percussive stick or castanet sound from a DDVCO comes in third.
A fourth voice is the STG Post Lawsuit LPF and Canyon tape delay.
A fifth fast running Q960 sequence floats in and out.
A lower toms part adds in more percussion and finally the second Q960 is used to generate a three part chord through the Empress Reverb.

Damn, really wanted to jump at that Klee but just dumped too much on sequencers in other formats (Buchla, Serge). Klee looks like a ton of fun once you grasp the concepts.

Yeah, I shouldn't have grabbed it (for the usually "not enough time and money" reasons) but I had recently sold a lot of stuff and always wanted to try a Klee so I gave into temptation since Phil's price was so low! :spin: :bite:

This track started out as the bassline from Fool's Overture. Then it changed...

I have made an accompanying video to go with the track. There is imagery that some may find disturbing so I have chosen to put the audio-only version of the performance here on MW.

Click here for a brief article on the creation of the piece including the video

Aside from the little Prophet run at about 1:18 I let the modular play the entire piece. I actually recorded 3 hours of it before tearing down the patch. I'll make the file available (albeit in a smaller format). It's great to jam along too since it's based in C.

I've got a happy version and a sad version with violins. Neither are recorded. For some reason I do my best work when the tape isn't rolling

I was curious, too, to see if anyone commented on the audio voice samples (like the opening one). Great movie!
