Timber isn’t available in kit form and I doubt it ever will be. With all of its tiny surface mount components, it would be very challenging for most people to build — especially compared to Bastl’s other kits.
That said, I do encourage people to try building some of Bastl’s other modules. So far I’ve built their Quattro Figaro VCA/Mixer, Cinnamon VCF, and Little Nerd. I had a great experience with all of them. I’d say any of these would be appropriate for beginners with basic soldering skills.

For a killer additive/subtractive tone processing combo that’s phenomenally flexible, I like to start with a simple triangle wave into Timber and then run the crossfade output into Bastl’s Cinnamon VCF. If I ever feel like I’m exhausting the possibilities there, I’ll switch to different starter waveforms or I’ll feed various audio-rate waveforms (tracking pitch and not) into the feedback input on Timber. I’ll also mix and pan the various outputs from the two modules for even more options.

Wow! And they completely redesigned it as a through-hole build! And the price is phenomenal.

Now, what are the chances they’ll start making a wood front panel for it? How can it be their one module with a reference to wood in the name (“dual waveform lumberjack”) isn’t available with a wood front panel?! :despair:

FM patches into Timber are to die for. I bought a Rubicon to compliment my Dixie and I finally get it. I finally get it.

Built one yesterday. The best folder I ever heard. Most flexible too!

Omg omg what a great unit. I wish I got one earlier. I could have avoided getting expensive oscillators and fancy filters. This thing on a simple analog oscillator is just bananas. So raw and rich.

Hello. Do somebody noticed scratchy pots with Bastl Timber ? I bought it as new, factory assembled not DIY and from the beginning it has scratchy pots. I not used it for a while and now I put it into the rack ant the pots are even more scratchy.

I had same problem in the symmetry pot. It was annoying, so replaced it with panel mounted alpha 9mm pot(not trimmer pot).
Centre detent parts in the pot evoked the scratch in my case.

Is not available anywhere, pre-build, at the moment, is it?

I've been eyeing it for a while, but never realised it goes in/out of stock.

It was one on modulargrid a week ago. I also thought to sell mine, but I do not want to sell it with scratchy pots, however it was scratchy also when I bought it new. At the end I like the module, even with scratchy pots so maybe I'll keep it. :D I think there will be a black one out soon, I saw they put out a black panel some days ago.

Did you ever find a solution to the scratchy pots? I am looking for a small wavefolder and Timber seems the best option, but I already have a Bastl Cinnamon with a cracking, noisy cutoff encoder (factory built, not DIY). Like the Timber it is an absolutely awesome sounding module but I wouldn't be happy with more scratchy pots in my system, and I do hear a similar crackling sound in this waveshaper comparison videos on YouTube (40:31).

I built one and have no issue with scratchy pots. Fairly straight forward build as well, if you don’t mind a bit of soldering. Great sounding module.

Does anyone know if you can buy the black panel for this?
