Bastl Timber
I'm just at the beginning of my eurorack journey and would appreciate some advice from more experienced users on this: I'm currently looking at a combination of Rubicon II + uFold II by Intellijel. But the sound and the drive of Timber really does sounds fantastic. Would flipping the uFold II for a Timber add more to the party? Or would I miss out on too much (the uFold II mentions TZFM, for example) by changing to a Timber?

Update from Bastl:
I have some news about Timber.
As you may have noticed, we were on vacation last two weeks, so the production was a bit slow. We just recieved a message from a fabric where the Timbers are being assembled, that they're going to be on vacation this week too.
It means that the rough estimation of shipping Timbers is September 2018
I'll get back to all of you once I got some further news.
Thank you for your patience.

@twable
yes, it's a monster
This thing can do a lot lot more, but for learning it, i simply put only my Avalon and the Model D for a first try on it. Then Timber let the waves smart switch between them via LFOs. The third voice (E 352) uses the same sequence from the Avalon, as all others, but spliced a bit by the Muxlicer. Avalon sequences all, except the Brute Impact which has it's own sequencer. The only FX used is the Flame FX16 CV.

For US wigglers- looks like Timber is available for preorder at Control (ctrl-mod) with an ETA of Sept 26. I went for it, looks like a great new folder with lots of tonal shaping potential, will probably replace my uFold (but keep Warps and the old STG). Like the crossfader and feedback features.
Hopefully they will arrive and ship out around mid-week. Seem to be already out there in EU for a few weeks now.
Video and audio demos and manual are on the Bastl site: Bastl Timber

Wow, this module completely went over my head. Just went to the top of my list. Haven't been this excited by a sound-processing module since Belgrad.
Great work Bastl! Sounds absolutely incredible.
And for those who may not have seen it, Chris, as usual, made an excellent video for the Timber;

Wow, I LOVE this module! It’s everything I’d ever want in a wavefolder and more. I think it probably injects more character and offers the widest range of interesting analog waveform possibilities than anything else in my rack.
I’d like to point out how ironic it is that this module called “Timber: dual waveform lumberjack” with all its wood references is one of the few Bastl modules that is NOT available with a wood faceplate. (I was hoping for an extra rough hewn version of their regular wood faceplates with splinters that would stick me every time I went near it!)
Lastly, I’d like to emphasize the value of the feedback input. I think it’s far too easily overlooked by new users as it has no associated knob and, unlike with most filters, a DC voltage into the feedback input will do little or nothing for most settings. I completely overlooked it when I first started playing with this module. But just try to put in something ‘interesting’ and the range of possibilities with this module starts multiplying many times over! (And, it just so happens feeding an audio rate signal into the feedback input is pretty much the only thing Chris didn’t get to showing in his otherwise amazingly clear and thorough video.)

Great info. I have neither the time nor the skillset to build really complex builds, so i´ll go for the finished instead. Thanks!Videographics wrote:Timber isn’t available in kit form and I doubt it ever will be. With all of its tiny surface mount components, it would be very challenging for most people to build — especially compared to Bastl’s other kits.defalut wrote:Where can this be bought as a DIY?
