I'm pleased to hear its sticking with you. Could I use the mother 32's sequencer to control both the permutations and the mother itself? Also do you have a quantizer you can recommend?Transistor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 6:24 am I only got mine less than a year ago, for me it’s a keeper. If limited for choice in modules to pair it with I would certainly recommend a quantizer and then a small simple sequencer to feed the Permutation and quantizer inputs.

I don’t have the mother 32 but a quick look at the patch panel I don’t see sequence CV outs. If it does have that then you could send a copy of the sequence to control the permutation inputs while sending its sequences in turn back into the mother 32 For transposition or to modulate other parameters. Could also clock the Perm with the M32 SEQ gate out, could be fun I imagine.ElasticBand wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 11:42 amI'm pleased to hear its sticking with you. Not sure I can recommend a quantizer for you though, I love my Shakmat Bard Quartet but it would seem like overkill if you don’t have a system with a few voices yet. I used to have the Doepfer which I found way too limiting and then the fist Intellijel uScale which I did not like the interface of. Those were 10+ years ago, I’m sure there should be plenty of good options for a small case to start with.

Re: Grayscale Permutation: expanded Turing Machine + Voltages
Thanks for the positive feedback, nice to hear that people are still enjoying the modules.
A trigger sequencer (for rhythmic clocking) and quantizer (for tonal sequencing) are good suggestions for supporting modules. I'd also recommend a sample/hold module, which will grab a new voltage from the SEQ output only when a trigger is received (this can even be a trigger from one of the Permutation gate outputs).
The supply chain situation has improved, so I'm taking preorders for a new batch:

ETA is June/July 2023.

Re: Grayscale Permutation: expanded Turing Machine + Voltages: 2023 restock
Is the 6hp version compatible with the Pulses expansion, or only modules that use the TM's gate bus?

Permutation only has the gate expansion header, since the 12hp and 18hp versions include more of the pulse outputs.
Also that June/July ETA has obviously slipped, but things are moving forward, will update the thread when the modules are back in stock. Building more Variant modules too.

Re: Grayscale Permutation: expanded Turing Machine + Voltages
Just wanted to post an end-of-year update. I'll have Permutation (all three sizes) and Variant back in stock next week. I know some people have been waiting a while for preorders, so thanks for your patience.
Also this will probably be the last chance to get these modules. The builds are kind of complex, some custom parts are required which were all used up for this batch, and prices have gone up across the board, so it's not really viable to build more.
Also, a reminder: you can try out Permutation and Variant for free in VCV Rack before buying.
