Anyway, I am trying my best to keep costs down as best I can. I just hope I don't bugger up the drilling of the mounting holes

Cheers, they're not going to be crazy expensive and if I could source somewhere locally that didn't mess up the cutting of the metal then it would save me a lot of time and again help cut costs. Northern Ireland is a bit pants in comparison to larger regions in terms of having access to cheap services, over here anything 'bespoke' seems to cost a bloody fortune.

I went to Malta for the first time last September and absolutely loved it!! Valletta is one of the most stunning places I have ever visited. Will definitely be back.nearly ghost wrote:I understand your pain.. I live in Malta, everything seems to be more expensive here to compared to the UK![]()
Good luck with that drilling!
Didn't see many synth shops though lol

Thanks. Print making with using etched plates is such a beautiful method of working and how I got into learning about working with plates.
I will be making some mini prints with some of the plates from this body of work. The imagery itself was sourced as part of the imagery for my debut show and full proper body of work entitled, 'The Darkest Light.' It's a pretty heavy show so it is nice to relax a little as I make these panels. Well, it is relaxing when it goes right.
Frustratingly I still haven't been able to buy the pillar drill, they are way more expensive than I had anticipated and the cheapest option in stock was £129.99. I have already invested a couple hundred pounds into this venture and if I was to buy that drill I am not even sure I would recoup my money.
I have my eye on another drill which is a little cheaper and hopefully it will come back into stock very soon.
In the meantime I finally got to bring some of the panels to my studio and stick them into my system using blu-tac, really pleased with how they look
Below is the astronaut panel with a deep (reverse) etch and the blue emulsion left on. The panel below is an old image from the 1800s of the orbit of the planets. It was a pretty deep etch which was then inked up with black intaglio ink. I have this shiny version and also a more matt version of this panel.

Cheers mate, much appreciated!!
I was reluctant to ask for pre orders prior to sorting the price structure. I just want to make 100% that I can complete the panels correctly and then I can work out how long each panel takes to make. At the moment it's a couple of hours per panel, initally I thought I could get each one done in less than an hour but that hasn't proven to be the case unfortunately. The cost won't be excessive though.
As soon as I have drilled a few of the panels and made sure all is ok I will confirm the pricing and get the panels up for sale.
Thanks

Just got it yesterday and drill bits arrived today
Am going to bring my modular to the workshop as a number of the panels cut by a company I paid are not accurate so in future I am just going to cut them all my self and keep measuring them in the modular itself to be 100% sure. Will take more time but I'd rather that than what just happened i.e. having to bin about 30 panels that are too small. I haven't actually binned them but I can't sell them as blind panels.
Will definitely have some work up for sale next week including some work on copper and brass. Below is my first brass plate with a deep etch that needs inked up and trimmed down to size. It is super shiny and difficult to photograph but oh so pretty
Almost there! Thought I'd have had panels up within 2 weeks originally, didn't quite work out as planned.
Thanks

What I thought was going to take 2 weeks soon turned into 2 months but FINALLY I have the first acid-bath etched Eurorack blind panels up for sale on my print site
Only 4 panels up for sale atm but more going up soon. Apologies to those waiting on these going up, has been much more time consuming and challenging than I initially anticipated.
Any questions feel free to get in touch. Here is the link:

3 of the astronaut panels sold and just 1 left.
Thank you very much for the support, went to bed last night wrecked and wondering if I was even going to make the money back I've spent on materials. Quite a bit to go yet and it will most likely take a good few months but am just stoked to think these wee guys will be resting in people's systems around the world
Thanks

Oh I just ordered one, and the previous poster said they ordered, so.....does that mean I am out of luck then?neil_kerr wrote:3 of the astronaut panels sold and just 1 left.

Don't worry bobbcorr, I will have a few more astronauts going up soon, just need to finish them off, though they are a different finish to the ones already listed.
m0d, shipping to the US is £3.50 for items up 100g i.e. for most panels I would imagine unless, they're particularly big and heavier.
