Sorry, I am not sure what you mean. I sell artworks that incorporate my etchings or at least I am supposed to be selling them but haven't updated my site in a bit.

I actually got into etching as it was a print technique that I wanted to incorporate into works for my debut solo show, 'The Darkest Light' which is due to take place in London next year. The astronomy imagery on the blind panels actually features in the show but in a more experimental manner, mixed up with other imagery.

At some stage I plan on using a number of the etched blind panels to create a few works on paper that I may offer for sale.

I am happy enough to etch for manufacturers but i am not sure who angryblue is?

Angryblue is another muff-fellow who created a synth sigil (see link in my previous post). I really would like to buy a panel with one of your designs (if you make them available). I think that angryblues design of a synth sigil would look absolutely stunning with your etching technique.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Yeah, the panels will be for sale and should be going up next week, they will range from 4hp to probably 18hp or 20hp.

I will check out angryblue's work, thanks for getting in touch.

Yes. Am going to leave it on some of the panels and varnish them with it remaining as I quite like it.

Loving the way these nice polished ones look along with the contrast of the hard bite from the acid seeping through the ground. Lovely work!

Now I'm definitely going to have to scheme up some renderings for what I'd want etched :omg:

Given that slots sufficient to take a 3mm screw still need to be drilled, I wonder how that will impact the design, esp. for the kanji on the top and lower edges..

Cheers guys.

As for the design issue, these were just tests, however, I don't plan on intentionally leaving blank space for the holes to be drilled on every panel. Some will have the screw mounts sitting on imagery, others won't.

That being said, I still don't have a drill yet  I don't have the money as I blew it all on metal, emulsion and other chemicals.

First few panels will be up over towards the end of the week or early next week, taking longer than anticipated to make them and I'm getting headaches from the chemicals :zombie: Time to upgrade my respiratory mask me think.

I also did about another 4 back to front by accident :bang:

These are very cool , if I provided the panel would you etch onto it , its a diy module I am going to build and a custom plate would look great.

Yeah that wouldn't be a problem. I don't have the facility to drill lots of different hole sizes and would rather just do the etching and let you handle the placement of the holes etc....if that's cool?

You can either send me the design via email and the blank panel or I can provide the aluminium or copper and you simply have to email me the design.

I am still working out pricing as I'm still gauging how long it takes to do each panel, how many materials I use etc....I'll have the prices up early next week.

If you want to pm, we can chat about your project or you can email me at prints@aarckandaawe.com

Thanks

Sorry if I missed this info elsewhere but are you putting the panels up for sale here on Muffs (BST) or on your website? or maybe both?

I'll put the panels up here and on my site but they will be sold via the site.

Am still having a few teething issues and having to overcome problems such as our guillotine being so bloody blunt in the workshop which is slowing the process down a bit. Am getting there though and really like the new black panels. The texture is really nice with a deep etch that should look pretty class in a modular system.

Here is a taster of the 6hp constellation panel and the 8hp black astronaut panel.

So... I missed it. Are you drilling holes in these? I doubt many people have a drill press. I know I don't. would love both of those designs.

Yes, I have to wait until I get paid next week to buy the drill.

The etching ink takes a week to dry before I can varnish anyway so I will hopefully have panels up for sale next week, with shipping commencing the following week.

Thanks

Sorry for the delay in getting the panels up, have encountered a number of problems which have slowed the process down considerably. Am getting there gradually but unfortunately I will be making a smaller number of panels than initially planned, as the process just takes way too long for me to be able to fire out dozens of panels every week.

The two 18HP panels below are both aluminium with deep etches, leaving a really nice textured background. I decided not to ink up either panel as I likes the subtlety of the grey backgrounds in both. In saying that, I plan on creating some that are inked up with black intaglio ink. The first panel has the emulsion removed, the second still has the emulsion as I like it on some panels.

Removing the emulsion is currently one of the most troublesome aspects and is taking hours of soaking in acetone then around 30-40 mins of working the plate to get rid of it. Very frustrating as it is just one part of the process. Hopefully I can figure out how to speed up the process soon.

On a positive note though the panels are looking great; it's very hard to get across how nicely textured the panels are in phone pics.

Am still trying to get the last bit of cash together for the drill as I had to spend close to £100 on a new tube of emulsion and I have been eating beans ever since lol :waah:

Once I get the drill and make sure I have the whole process sorted then I can work out a pricing structure. I am hoping to have some panels up by the end of the week. Fingers crossed and Santa Claus willing.

Beautiful. The background texture and color reminds me a little of concrete for some odd reason.

Cheers. The area that hasn't been etched i.e. the astronaut and writing, glimmers and shines in the light. Can't wait to get them drilled and get a few in my own case :)

Great work Neil! These look fantastic. I will definitely try and pick one up if there not too expensive :guinness:
