Looks like it already has! :)

Looks great, I totally dig the space invader panels.
And yeah Tom's layout for the XR2206 VCO is great, I built two myself and they are really good, use them a lot. The skew control is nice.

What's that module with the display, top row, in the middle?

That actually a dual CGS65 Tube VCA. It seemed like a neat idea at the time to display the tubes. In retrospect I'd have rather have just had a smaller panel.

Nice panel. That's a module I'd like to eventually have 4 of.

Yeah, not crazy about the response of the voltage controlled drive. But nice vca's. The distortion is very pentode-y, not thick and creamy but with some edge. The boards are the Befaco version of it.

Here is my first couple of modules. These are all YuSynth so far. I am still wrestling with faceplates and have not figured out how to get a result I like. I am contemplating DIY powder coat and screenprint, but it seems like a heavy investment for one and two-off runs like these.

Still tuning it up. Didn't spot the 12v changes until I was wiring the panel, but I've used pins & headers so it is easy to assemble /disassemble

I always wonder why people still publish them then. When I make pictures like these I immediately delete them on the cam itself and use a tripod/stand or better lighting or different angles. :hmm:

Finally my 259r is FINISHED! :yay:

I've mentioned this one in another thread, as it uses mostly "vintage" and/or the same semiconductors as found on the original schematics. From the back:

From the front (Yes, I thought using all the same color LED would be a bit boring, I do like blinking lights! :yay: )

It sounds glorious!

Embedding videos does unfortunately not work when you use a https link. Just remove the "s" if you absolutely want to embed it. Personally i prefer plain links to embedded videos (same with soundcloud), but maybe that's just me.

Back to topic:
Jarno could you please make a recording of your tube vca? I'm planning on building either the L-1 or the Befaco version, but I can't decide and I just don't know if I want/need the VC Drive functionality of the Befaco or if I can live with the Soft/Harsh switch on the L-1.

I've started designing in SMD, but I'd got so used to using through-holes as vias and components as jumpers, to the point of using next to no standalone vias at all (it was the ultimate satisfaction to finish a board with absolutely no vias); now I'm finding it disconcerting having to use so many with SMD. SOIC logic is proving a nightmare, I'm trying to keep the vias a certain distance from the pads so they don't suck up all the solder if reflowed.

How much do you guys worry about vias with SMD? Any tips routing SMD boards in general? Guess it's just something you get used to.
I actually just kinda stopped worrying about using vias all together whether SMT or TH. I still do try to keep it to a minimum when possible, but if I need one I need one. I used to do everything I could to keep from using any at all. The more I examined SMT boards from people I trust to be doing things correctly, the more I noticed a metric ton of vias being used. Can't be that bad.
So I've pretty much finished the board I've designed in SMD, the through hole version had about 10-15 vias across two boards, this SMD version has 178! And it took a lot of effort to keep it that low too...

It's a modest accomplishment, but it's mine - Prophet VS hard-to-read LCD replaced with an OLED display.
