[ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Hi,
A question regarding my circles V2 diy project from Synthcube. The module seems so be working. Led lights up, rhythms come out and the encoders work as intended. But only with the internal clock. An external clock source (tried a shakmat clock o pawn and a lfo) does not work. I’m sure I made an error somewhere.
Can someone give me some tips on where to start looking?
Regards,
Björn

Hi who fixes these units in the USA ?? One of my circles are missing lights !!
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
is this a DIY unit or store bought? if it's a retail unit, PM meBikes_n_beatz wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 10:12 am Hi who fixes these units in the USA ?? One of my circles are missing lights !!

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Hello!
I just finished a synthcube kit and I am only getting the encoder on the bottom lighting up and the F button. I press it and it goes through it's menues and reacts to clock but the other two encoders are off and none of the LEDs are on. Any ideas? I reflowed all the chips, orientation is correct, all solder points look ok.
I did notice that C1 on the back PCB didn't have a capacitor, is that supposed to be populated?
Thanks!

For what it's worth, mine (also synthcube kit) does have C2 installed, though I don't know enough about it to know if that's you're issue. Should be present according to the BOM.
Edit; sorry, meant C1 where I typed C2.

check the orientation and soldering on the ws2811s

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Just finished a synthcube kit and I’m getting VERY bright lights on the top circle but some not lit. No lights at all on middle and bottom and encoders are lit but top encoder alternates green or dark for what seems to be sequence length.
SOMETHINGS working - seems like an internal clock is running and things are rotating on the top circle.
Pressing F button does stuff but unclear what it’s doing.
I tested continuity between LEDs with a meter and they all seem to ping OK. Any obvious next things to check?
PS - it shipped with a cable that had 16 pins on one side and a smaller connector on the aside - is that the correct power cable?
Sorry for the n00bish questions. I’ve built a few modules (some SMD) but I’m definitely still in the learning stages!

1) the RGB LEDS are all connected in a chain, bottom to top encoder then top to bottom circle. if the top encoder does not light up correctly, check the soldering around the top WS2811, also check IC orientation.morrison23usa wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 6:28 pm Just finished a synthcube kit and I’m getting VERY bright lights on the top circle but some not lit. 2) the module needs 5V, so a 16pin to 16pin power cable is needed.
3) I only sell PCBs and panels, the kits are made by Synthcube, so please refer to them to all questions about what was supplied with the kit.

Woehoe, found it. One of the transistors (t1/t2) was broken. Now it works like a charm.jakurpa wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 6:57 pm Hi,

I checked the top WS2811 and found a bad joint - reflowed and fixed and now the top encoder is lighting up as expected.
I'm using a 16 pin > 16 pin connecter and will alert Synthcube regarding the part.
The issue with the circle LEDs persists... in the top circle starting with #6 clockwise from the 12:00 the LEDs are VERY bright (lens flare on the camera, LED #5 is dark, and I don't see any LEDs lit on the middle and bottom circles.
The pic attached is washed out by the brightness of the LEDs.
Any advice on what else to check is appreciated!
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
the "bright" LEDs are the ones that don't get the proper control signal, so check soldering around the last good / first bad LED. its usually a pad not soldered correctly.
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
please show a hig hres image of the back of the module

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
sorry for the confusion, this is not a DIY module but a regular one built and sold by me (the DIY label on the panel is wrong).
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Hi,
Is someone can tell me the last update software of the V2 ? and where to find it ?
Thank you so much for your help.

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
hello, I recently bought an ec 2 from Thomann, the trigger signal works for triggering notes but seems too weak (or too short) to be used as a clock signal on my modules. I don't have another EC2 to compare, so is this normal or does my unit have a problem?
thanks !
thanks !
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
I just got an EC v2, with Six Switches, and it’s a great sequencer! I’ve tried out some but not all the functions, and maybe I changed something that is causing my issue. Sequencer 1 doesn’t send any triggers, and I’m wondering if there’s a mute setting or some other setting which may be causing this. I’ve tried various patterns, cables, sound sources. It rotates, and looks fine otherwise, and the other 5 sequencers are all working as expected.
Any suggestions?

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
does it have all the jumpers on the back?

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Hi, thanks for replying Vladimir. There aren’t any jumpers, I just checked again. They were removed when I connected the Six Switches.

Here are a few photos in case they help (with 6 Switches attached, and without being attached for a better view)

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Looks like you installed the cable on J123 the wrong way.
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Oh my, what an idiot (edit: me, not you)! Thanks so much for spotting that, and thanks to Vladimir for designing it so that nothing blew when I put the cable on incorrectly.noNson of Adam wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:52 am Looks like you installed the cable on J123 the wrong way.
