Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Hello! BAck from the dead... kind of... So the root cause of this no power situation was the 5v volt regulator had actually broken off the power supply.. repaired and 5v rail is functional. The circles v1.9 has no LED on power-up but there seems to be signal flow and reaction to button 2 clock adjustment, powering down the LED's momentarily flash, i tried the power up into safe mode but didnt seem to affect it and pot 2 out has no functional out... 13456 all react to clock signal in and adjustment with knob 2... the six switches effect the on off of 13456 2 nothing... board still shows no signs of fired components...
Curious what is flashed on by mention on modular grid?
Is it possible that the internal memory has been wiped clear to some extent?
Thank you!!

if you have signals out on 123456 then you have firmware inside.
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Hello all! I just received my kit build kit for V1.9 and am looking forward to practicing soldering smt.
I am a little overwhelmed as this is the most complex kit I have attempted, and am confused re: the leds. They are all attached on a board, conveniently broken into individual sections. Looking at the build photos versus the led sections provided, they do not appear to fit. Are they to be further removed from the individual sections somehow and then soldered to the pcb? Are there any step by step photos/ videos anyone can share to assist?

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
I guess you bought that kit from Synthcube, they made a mistake and supplied already soldered LEDs in the kits instead of just the LEDs. Please ask them to provide you with the correct components. I only sell PCB+panel sets, the kit was done by Synthcubezenith wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 1:11 pm Hello all! I did buy from Synthcube. Thank you for the clarification!!
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
So far so good on the soldering progress! Getting up through the IC's and onto the power header. This has been a very fun experience!
Question: the supplied header in the kit was a 16 pin Anphenol header. The BOM calls for a PINHD-2X8 Doepfer power header. Is this another error, or a substitution?

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
I guess the idea is to break the 16 pin in half and solder them in parallel, plug them into a cable to align them before soldering
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Alright, I assumed that what was they were implying.

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
recent synthcube kit buyers-- we have been shipping some kits with the incorrect pre-soldered LEDs--- PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO USE THEM-- THEY ARE INCORRECT FOR THE KIT--- if you are one of those people, please contact us via email we will send you the correct LEDs!!av500 wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 1:22 pmI guess you bought that kit from Synthcube, they made a mistake and supplied already soldered LEDs in the kits instead of just the LEDs. In a few cases we sent out the wrong LEDs again, to people who asked asked for the correct ones (long story, mis-labelling issue with an inbound supplier) but we believe we have it sorted out-- so we will get you the correct LEDS.... thank you for your patience...

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Is the (compiled) firmware for this module available?
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
software updates are on the vpme.de website, the DIY kit ships with the firmware installed
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
that's indeed true, seems I have not published a firmware update yet ... but does your chip not have any firmware?
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
hey, just wanted to express my love for this module again. it has become the heart of my rhythm section.
its also the module i explain to newbies that want to lay hands on the weird mashine with all those cables. its very intiutive with the light going round. hook it up to a kick drum - instant fun <3

Are there any new kits coming @synthcube?

Any word on when the kits will be in stock again? My fingers are itching to get them on this module.

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
they are coming just as soon as we can get restocked on the panel/pcb sets-- all parts are here in stock waiting!!

Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
What does it mean if theres 5V and 3.3V at the two test points but there is no 5V between D49 and L49? Is it diode orientation that would cause that?
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
if you have 5V at the 5V testpoint and 3.3V at the 3.3V testpoint then your power supply is OK. at the diode you should measure only about 0.3V dropbleedmachine wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 8:01 amWhat does it mean if theres 5V and 3.3V at the two test points but there is no 5V between D49 and L49? Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
Ok - my power looks fine then... I also can see 4.7V on the correct pins on the header between the board's but I've got no action at all on the LEDs or encoders - only the button lights up... I've checked connectivity on each of the led circles and that seems fine - so I guess I either have the same problem with all 3 chips or its something upstream of them... Any ideas what I can check?av500 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 8:12 amif you have 5V at the 5V testpoint and 3.3V at the 3.3V testpoint then your power supply is OK. at the diode you should measure only about 0.3V dropbleedmachine wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 8:01 amWhat does it mean if theres 5V and 3.3V at the two test points but there is no 5V between D49 and L49? can you post a picture of the PCB?

Probably not the clearest pic - I will get a better one shortly
Re: [ORDER] Euclidean Circles - LEDs with rhythm
can you check if the CPU itself works? send in a clock and observe if there are triggers on CH 1-6
