there are a couple of issues

ubuntu is fussy about isp's - they sometimes don't work straight away, some faffing with adding yourself to a dialout group is needed, dmesg-ing i think, unplugging and replugging, the system will find the isp ok but steadfastly refuse to talk to it

and it sometimes only recognises usb if you run avrdude as root and explicitly specify usb, even though thats the default i think

avrdude 6 doesn't like the open source firmware on the olimex, it's a reverse engineered clone of something, not written by olimex - but a one line change can fix it

edit - all that said, i did get it working fairly easily , by following an adafruit tutorial and googling the problem (compiling avrdude 5.11 aside, but i got some help with that :) ) , i've got no idea if you can edit and save the state of a vagrant vm - but should just be a matter of following the tutorial to get it working
Adding yourself to the dialout group is to be expected if you're not logging in on to a graphical console session. (Same would go for disk group if you want access to a disk or DVD, video group if you want access to the framebuffer etc etc.)

dmesg output should give you the tty that the programmer has been assigned, assuming udev recognises that it needs a tty. It might be you need a rule to force that.
yes I think that's it ,you have to add a number to a file

i think the fuses went back to zeros because of my impatience and i may have reset them with that but cant be sure. If you have any ideas i will, try but if not i will grab another chip and replace it. The joy of the flashing lights on one has made my day, so i am reinvigorated.

apart from those 3 i think theres another fuse which controls whether a chip can be flashed or not - if thats been flipped it'll be unflashable

I'm not sure of how to place heatsink parts on my Module Tester pcb. :hmm:
Does anyone could explain it or have a picture of it please?

the flat part of the heatsink goes flat against the pcb - i had to bend the fins on the heatsink i think to make it fit the case, there were also 2 silver tabs sticking out of the end that i needed to remove, probably best to do this before soldering

i assembled everything first, bent the legs on the regulator 90 degrees & bolted it to the pcb before soldering

Do you mean an M9 thread? No I don't think so.

The 9mm pots that I sell have an M7 thread (as pretty much 9mm pot out there have) and they fit fine.

I'll take a Braids PWB - I presume these work with the Grayscale front panels?
