since it's unofficial firmware, doesn't seem like it'd hurt to have two versions of the firmware, either Sheep as-is, or a version with 3 less waves but PLL/sync feature (which is awesome, and big reason why I own two Tides)

Hmmm... shouldn't the fact that it's unofficial imply that I shouldn't spent too much time on it rather than herd cats and maintain several alternative versions to keep everybody happy?

Providing only one "official" version of the Sheep alternative firmware in binary form makes sense, but is there any reason not to push the PLL version in a branch to GitHub? Then it become other people's problem to create a flock of Sheep.

The PLL version is the official version. It's available on github.
but is there any reason not to push the PLL version in a branch to GitHub?
Yes, there's a reason: enough freebies for now. I'd rather spend my time on something else than dig back the older version which did not have the PLL mode.

Ah, OK, thanks. But it's not on a branch? So we have to go back to the last pre-Sheep commit to obtain the source for vanilla Tides? Apologies if I misunderstand - I'm still coming to grips with git after a decade of using svn.

It's not a branch, it's the same source tree. You enable vanilla Tides vs Sheep with a #define WAVETABLE_HACK in generator.h

As for getting back to Sheep without PLL, you can't. I don't bother committing work in progress in the public repo.

OK, thanks, that makes perfect sense now. My colleague keeps growling at me that I should be using git branches whenever he discovers conditional includes in my code, but I am not yet convinced.

MI designed a faceplate for the alternative firmware. If you are interested add your comment at the MI forum or else the faceplate won't be produced.

I'd be interested to know that too. Been anxiously awaiting a new batch of E350's and then stumbled upon Sheep. I'd be interested to know which wave(table)s are in the Sheep firmware.

When I got red lights after 5 seconds, it was because the firmware update signal was too weak coming out of the heaphones output of my computer. After giving it 6dB gain, it worked flawlessly.

I tried a bunch of different volumes bit ultimately it worked when I ran it through iTunes.

Now I'm playing Shepherd

EDIT: Had fun made a quick off the cuff vid. It sounds nice.

Awesome work Nedavine, as usual! I hope you can make some more sheep stuff, so I can be fully convinced to run this firmware! I already like Tides a ton, but I'm starting to think about trying sheep out for a little while.

Thanks. I'll try and make something more complete if I get a chance. I actually didn't have enough modulation as I only have a function and tides but my peaks arrives today so I should be able to create something a little more interesting.

WTF????

how come I missed all of this?

Really gonna have to look into getting some Tides for the store now - was always the plan at some point, but this has certainly made it even more attractive!
