Some values are different on the PCB, like 8k2=10k...

Pd is for pulldown (100k) and bypass caps are left out in the schematic.

Acc in isn't really normalled to 12v, it used to be in an earlier version.

The pot is the little plastic shaft one. The other pots are in the main board schematic, which is the one by Eric Archer found here
Ah, thanks for the schem. Found it. I didn't jumper Rx.

The accent input does. I can hear a subtle difference with the tone, but I'll wait on the 100k pot before I look more into it. Besides, I'm off for vacation soon, so it'll sit for a bit anyway.

Try lowering the value of the standing resistor, it should give you a lower low level on the pot and thus bigger dynamic range. I think I used 100k for it but I can't think of a reason why. Should be more like 10k.

It's rockin a 10k already. If I have time tonight I'll swap it with a 1k and see what happens.

Hey There,

I wanted to inquire if you ever finished the 808 kick pcb's and whether or not you have any of the snare remaining? this would be for non euro rack build..

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

Yeah I do have some more snare PCB sets and also PCBs for the kick and hihat.
I had some issues with the panelcomponentboards for the kick and hihat and had another revision of these made. These came in last week but I still have to confirm they actually work the way I hope they do.
All of this is of no concern to you as you probably don't even want to use the euro- friendly panelcomponentboard anyway.

One thing I just noticed is that the mounting holes on the snare and hihat are rather small, looks like 2 mm diameter...

Okay I finally built a kick today and it's GOOD.
Nice long BOOOOMMMMmmmm if you want it, cool!

The panelcomponentboard is rather thin, must have goofed something up when ordering, but with all components installed it is very sturdy nevertheless.

I am going to PM the guys who expressed interest in this thread first, then start a new thread about it.

interested in
2 hats
1 snare
1 kick

and your panels if possible in white (nearly intransparent) if possible.
Love your designs anyway.

By the way, could you give me a tip where to get the white intransparent acryl you used in for the module with pink knobs left to kicks?

Cheers

I get it at a local store, but it is Perspex brand which you should be able to get all over the world. Maybe order at Parspex themselves (comes in 1m x 2m slabs, likely rediculous shipping). My bet is that someone near you sells the stuff. I tend to buy leftovers, which makes it kind of cheap.

that looks great. How could I miss it? If available, I would definitely be interested in PCB sets for snare kick and hat (one each).
How much are the panels? They also look nice!

Sure, I just reserved you some.
I charge €25,- per PCB set and €10,- per panel. Shipping is €3,- worldwide.

duff

Done did reserve that for you.

And with that, I cleanly ran out of kicks for now. I will start another thread on interest in kicks and hats when all this is resolved.

Off to build a hihat now...

Hihat is good too

Only one thing that I don't like and can't explain:
Out of the +/- ten builds i have done so far, 2 sound very, very grainy. I have tried swapping out the hexinverters and several capacitors, to no avail. Might be I put in a wrong value resistor somewhere, hard to check unless I replace them all. This happened on my first ever build, and on the first one of today. Second one sounds great.

got the PCBs today!

The only thing that seems a bit troubling are the switches. They seem rather expensive and to buy just a few results in (far too) high shipping costs. Maybe it would be possible to do some sort of group buy (at least for those in europe) or to add them to the pcbs (too late for me).

If there ever is a revision of the PCBs, i think it would be a good idea to make footprints for both, conventional switches and those. Should not be too difficult.

Well my thinking is that these are simply great switches. Problem is I have run out and Mouser isn't stocking. Haven't been able to register at digikey. I am not very good at the internet...

I'll try again later this week when I have a bit more time/patience.
