Jakobsweb says :
Short demo of the Aion Modular Lowpass Filter. A filter module designed to sound like the vintage MOOG Modular lowpass filter (NOT like Minimoog!). In essence it looks like a Eurorack version of the 5U Club of the Knobs module - soundwise, I cannot tell.
I have used 3 (!) Macbeth VCOs here to feed the filter with equivalent powerful basic sound (2 sawtooth, 1 pulse w/mod). The filter does like strong VCA amplification to boost the sound. Some echo/reverb from Lexicon. I think it is an awesome filter and I can't wait for its sister modules to be ready :)

Ugh. Quicktime embedded on the aion site. What ever happened to just throwing up an MP3, or wav file, or even a Flac if you're concerned about quality?

I have quicktime disabled, so I can't hear any of the samples :P

Quicktime is second only to the old Realplayer in its computer-stomping malware behavior.

Great demo. :)

Now you just need a CP3-like overdriving filter, and a couple 901 or 921 oscillators

As someone who is tight on space, but LOVES the sound of the 901 and 921 clones, this could be a nice compromise for a second voice.

Folks who say there are lots of similar oscillators and filters out there are correct -- but none have exactly *that* sound. Here's what my MOS-LAB 921s and 904a sound like.

If you want that Moog Modular sound, you have to go with a full voice of Moog clones, and accept all their quirks.

also cv attenuators would have been a nice nod towards eurorack and the 21st century. it totally sucks not to have them with my moslab system.

that video sounds nice it itself, but not like any transistor ladder i know, be it 904, mini, source etc. especially the chirpy resonance is off. filter hasn't the smoothness or low mid growl.

i never liked COTK stuff - to my ears, it's the least accurate moog 900 clone out there. small, clean, one dimensional. it takes much more than copying the front panel and eye candy to get that sound.

never the less, i expect many going gaga over this .. the desire to own that golden grail of synths in any form is so strong, that it blinds the senses. especially this cutesy miniaturised version.

Yeah, a majority of people probably go for eurorack over 5U not because it sounds better or is better made, but because it tends to be cuter and flashier eye candy. :hihi:

I love both formats. I have a large eurorack system and a small 5U and I think the huge appeal to Eurorack is in the experimental department. Some of these guys really push the envelope in my opinion it is mind blowing actually. Sure eurorack sounds great too. Now I think the 5U stuff is based more from the start on getting 'that' huge sound and the designers take pride and priority in making that happen. If you want unlimited deep space exploration of sound, eurorack will get you there. If you want that vintage hand crafted sound 5U no doubt. I bought this filter even though i have a small Mos Lab setup just because its pretty cool to have that 'option' in euro but I still like having the best of both worlds. Now please make some cool eurorack Moog 900 series VCO clones! psssssst..the ones in 5U are way better then the ones in euro ATM :hide:

And cheaper, and takes up less space and has more going on ... For me of course! :hihi:

I like the sound of the filter, low resonance particularly, higher resonance isn't really doing it for me. Lack of CV attenuation is a major turn off.

I watched the youtube video then listened to the examples and though 'what a great sounding filter'. I couldn't care less if it sounds 'like' a Moog or not.
Knowing the price would likely tell me if i like it enough to buy it.

220 euro ... seems fair ... though i'd like to hear some more demo's from those lucky ten who snatched up the first batch
don't need midi, don't need keys, just want knobs and cables (all together now ;-)

I received my 904a yesterday. It has the widest frequency range of any filter I own. Blows the doors off of my RS-100. I hope that they go further with this line up (maybe 921s or 960 clone). I recommend this one!

Got mine today and man what a sweet filter. :hail: Best Moog filter in euro yet in my opinion and i have a few. I think there is finally a 5U competitor in euro for that moog sound. Great work now please make some VCOs to go with it. I dont have a lot of time for demos right now but we will see.
