How do you use your scanning mixer?

Unread post by pugix »

I just bought a Holocene Electronics SCANNI-MIX, on sale from Perfect Circuit, because I realized that I had no scanning mixers in my somewhat large module collection.

Years ago I had a Verbos Scan & Pan, but found it unduly complicated and hard to get it to do what I wanted. I also had and sold an Xaoc Samara 2, which has a scanning mode. But I used Samara 2 mainly as an attenuator/mixer. The SCANNI-MIX is dedicated to scan mixing, which is why I chose it. The interface is simple.

I'm wondering how you may be using a scanning mixer, whatever make. What kind of signals do you scan? Do you scan at audio rates? What sort of CV do you scan with? LFO with different shapes? Does your scanner offer variable slope of the transitions?

TIA,
