Re: Audient Evo 16
I've got the 8 and can't believe the value for money. If I needed more inputs I wouldn't hesitate to go the 16. The plastic case feels fine on my 8 (one of the criticisms posted elsewhere) and was a fair way to keep cost low. SmartGain process actually works, it's not a gimic! I thought I'd hate it but that's how I set my levels now.
This phase of high quality low cost interfaces is great.

I got the EVO 16 about a week ago. So far I'm really happy with it. The auto-leveling feature is really nice.

Re: Audient Evo 16
What’s really sold me on it , is that you can save a standalone mode , I was really in the market for a line mixer as I do any processing digitally , but I didn’t like any of the ones I could afford , so I ended up with an SLL Six a patchbay as I only need connections and gain. So the Six has become a bit redundant as much as I like the buss compressor , which does sound really nice on grouped drums.
Anyway this just seems a better option as I rarely multitrack, this and a patchbay pretty much is all I need. Plus I can adat it to my id14, if I’m using my computer, which I really like the converters on.

Re: Audient Evo 16
Anybody getting processor chitchat when muting the master or just turning its volume to zero?
Not hum just that chit chatter digital noise. Tried various sockets around the house , but still getting it. Everything else is working fine.

Just thought I’d update , there was an update that fixed this issue , I’m a very happy customer at the moment, especially considering the price.

Re: Audient Evo 16
Q for users: after saving a session (or whatever their term is) to use in standalone mode, are you able to assign a cue mix on the fly when in standalone?
I am really interested in using a more modern 1u interface as a mixer, but I need cue per channel (or the ability to assign pfl) on the fly for live use. I currently use an old motu 828 firewire which can do this, but sort of interested in something with more modern a/d to compare.

You can’t assign anything in standalone. You can link channels, mute , alter gain , monitor levels use the saved function button, mines set to mono.
All routing is done via the software , that’s what you mean ?

Re: Audient Evo 16
Well generally my workflow on the 828 is as follows: couple of synths, a drum machine, modular, etc all get connected to the 828 analog TRS 1/4” ins. I then set up all fx routing, output assignments, eq per track, panning etc in the 828 CueMix software. Once I’m happy with that for my current “session” I save and disconnect cpu to enter standalone mode.
Then when jamming or whatever, I can scroll through each input channel from the front panel on the 828 and select “cue” and it gives me PFL (even though the fader is digital and already a set value in CueMix) for that channel, also removing that channel from my routed mix out. For what I do, I need to be able to preview instrument sequences in the headphones before bringing them into this 828 submix.
Essentially I use the 828 as an 8 channel mixer, with cue/pfl on each channel, and I’m able to preset EQ and routing in advance. This gives me a fully functional line mixer in 1u, whereas similar functionality is 2u for other digital mixers, 3, 4 or 5u for their analog counterparts.
I’m looking for another interface that can do the same type of stuff.

Ah , this isn’t it then , you can route headphones from the software matrix , but then it stays once saved I think. I don’t need cue mixes in general , but as far as I know you can’t change pfl.

Re: Audient Evo 16
What are people's experiences with this in standalone mode?
I'm considering this as an extension to my Motu 808es - 8 extra audio ins and 8 CV outs.

Re: Audient Evo 16
I use it standalone a lot , it’s fine , the converters are really clean. I’d wait for a fix though , because at the moment it only stays on in usb mode in stand alone it shuts down after an hour or so for power saving.
I was talking to Audient yesterday and they are working on a fix at the moment.
There are plenty of meters for seeng what’s going on and a handy function button tht you can choose what it does , I have mine set to mono for test mono compatibility. But it can be one of about 5 options. What is accessible in standalone I have listed in my previous post.
Any routing is done via the software , then you just save it to the unit and it works with that configuration in stand alone.
I’ve had for quite a while now , I’m happy with it, especially the sound.
Just note , if you are thinking of slaving it via adat , it’s a bit esoteric to set up , it wants to be the master Luke.

Re: Audient Evo 16
Thanks! and good to know with the shut down thing as well as wanting to be clock master - the latter is somewhat meh as I was hoping to use my 828 as master connected per thunderbolt to Mac and have the evo per Adat only. Identify like to do aggregate setups. Hm… maybe I’ll keep it on my list but also keep looking… best

They have another version that’s geared towards being slaved around the same price , maybe check that out

Would you/ does anyone know if the outputs on the evo SP8 are DC coupled?
Edit: never mind - audient support just confirmed they are, in fact dc coupled. Nor sure if enough voltage swing for all types of applications, but I think I will give this a try!

Re: Audient Evo 16
Jus a little update on the EVO SP8 - came today. Easy to set up, first sound impression is GOOD. Looks slick and is easy to handle. DC couples yes, but output voltage swing is not enough for sensible use with Eurorack stuff or simple CV/GATE.
Was dumb enough to only find afterwards that max out is 12dbu, so ca 3volts. Will need to see if I keep it anyways since I want the extra inputs. Next cheaper option seems to be the bullinger but don't feel like getting that.

Ah sucks about voltage , Arturia have a new interface out , but have no idea if it is DC coupled ?

Re: Audient Evo 16
Yes, the AudioFuse 16Rig has 8 x DC coupled line outputs on TRS and CV-compatible connectivity. Their maximum output level is +24dBu.h4ndcrafted wrote: Tue Oct 24, 2023 7:45 pm Ah sucks about voltage , Arturia have a new interface out , but have no idea if it is DC coupled ?

Re: Audient Evo 16
Has anyone tried the Evo 16 with an iPad - I know it’s not officially supported, but if it’s vaguely workable I’d have more interest in buying one for my wife to use with her Max.

Re: Audient Evo 16
anyone know the advantage of having an Evo16 over an SP8 to connect via ADAT to a Push 3?
Re: Audient Evo 16
Don't think there's any. Evo16 is basically SP8 plus USB audio interface functionality, same analog I/O and specs. So for an ADAT expander you'd really want the SP8. If you wanted the same device to double as an audio interface for the computer, then that's another matter of course.robleighton22 wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:09 am anyone know the advantage of having an Evo16 over an SP8 to connect via ADAT to a Push 3?

Re: Audient Evo 16
picked up an 8 to expand my motu ultralite mk5. sounds great, no sync issues so far (no word clock on the ultralite). no issues w/ construction. feels like a quietly fantastic piece.
