MPC Live (first version), computer, FH-2

Post by donpuzo »

hello,

I would like to check if the FH-2 can be the midi module I need for this two scenarios:

- connect the computer to the modular with USB to control with my DAW several triggers for drums (I guess this won't be a problem but I've not used an USB A-USB A cable until now and wanted to be sure of it)

- To use the sequencer of an MPC live (first version) to send midi and trigger several things in the modular via USB with a USB A-USB A cable. I have seen this thread about doing it by DIN midi, and I just wanted to know if it can be done directly with and USB cable without needing anything else. As far as I know, the USB-B port of the MPC doesn't send midi.

Thank you!

Don't use a USB A-A cable. If the ES-9 is to be used as a MIDI device, you need to use its USB C port, so a USB A-C cable would be the one for connecting it to a computer.

Is it possible that you wanted to say the FH-2? Thanks for the info, I don't know why I assumed that the USB-C connection was only used to access the computer editor, my mistake. With this same cable, would I be able to connect the FH-2 to be "sequenced" by the MPC?

Thanks!

Sorry, yes, I was answering too many messages at once! Though the same would actually be true of an ES-9.

I'm not familiar with the MPC's MIDI ports, sorry. But if it has a USB A port, then yes probably.
