There are Mescaline threads in this forum, but they came before the Folktek chapter. Also threads regarding Folktek Eurorack modules.

And i remember a thread about the Euphonos Field...

Super late to the topic. It's been rather thoroughly discussed and YouTubed over the years. Lots of folk have moved on from the Mescaline as they found it too bizarre for their applications.

?? Too Bizarre ?? for this place ?? :hmm: I'd frame it as mysterious and very poorly documented, especially Mental, but it does what it does very well and yes its not MATHS or a Buchla 259 but it does make "pretty sounds" if you like ambient sort of things. The nly real hassle is fishing out broken off DuPont cable pins from the headers

I've had good luck using the pointed tip of a utility knife blade , there is just enough grip to lift lift the pin, and its pointy enough to get in there pretty good, worst case is to put notch h in the side ofthe header on the side to get to it, ugly but it works

The little bastard broke in the header, no chance to grab it. A hole from the side could be a solution...

My mescaline looks pretty on my shelf (it’s not plugged in to power or an amp). But I might need to hide it lest people get the wrong idea about my vaccination status. :despair:

Man I would love to get my hands on one.
I'd also like another tetrax organ.
Also, a Tocante Phashi.
Two serge panels.
An Etherwave plus.
A 208.
A morphagene
And a plumbutter.
And four rows of Harvestman.
And a Lyra 8.

Ok. That's all Santa.
I think.

But really though, why is this thread empty?
Did Arius shut down shop?
Did he get synthrotek'd?

Pretty much. This time it wasn't about telling jokes. Folktek shared memes that indicated he will not be getting the vaccine on Facebook. People came to the forum to cancel him and acuse him of murdering old people related to a forum member who lives in the same town but only the hypothetical.

No...he claims it is business as usual as of a few weeks ago. There's a thread back yonder with some disgruntled "customers" who haven't even received an email for their $1200.

yup, that's his M.O., hasn't changed in 20 years--- had to ask for a refund via ebay 20 years ago before he finally shipped his silly "Ism" box.

Damn. That's a total shame. He makes cool stuff. Could have stepped up his game but I guess that's not happening.
Just another case of what not to do as a builder in the synth community. This community is very niche but also one hand washes the other. Never shit where you eat.

There was a thread a long long time ago that exposed the shitty build quality. He was using hot melt glue everywhere. The wires looked like a rats nest. The solder joints looks like hideous blobs. Prototype board not mounted to anything except hot glue. I blame the customers for sending him money when it is well known the low quality, the long waits, no support, no communication. If people stop sending him money the Ponzi scheme stops there. Cynthia from cyndistries was enabled by people on this forum who said she is trustworthy but you need to prepay two years up front for your zeroscillator. Eventually the zeroscillators stopped flowing and the debt was just a debt. This has happened many many many times before on this forum with manufacturers accidentally or intentionally turning a legitimate business into a scam operation whenever the business runs out of money. Maybe they are just delusional people in denial of admitting failure? Maybe they are optimistic with good intentions about turning the company around? Or maybe they are just stealing money? No one really knows what goes on in their mind.

Who knows. It feels like it's important to pay this stuff with your most protected form of payment, without accepting lead lead times longer than the timeout on your payment method. Don't let sentiment or forum hype talk you out of getting refunds if you don't have what you ordered by the payment reversal/claim deadline.

Edit:

..unless you're cool with gambling the money and can afford to lose it, of course. In which case, have at it and good luck.

And now it appears Folktek is been acquired by another company.
Folktek has been acquired and is under new ownership of the microphone company 3Dio (3diosound.com), Jeff Anderson and Brian Anderson. As the new owners, our top priority is to fulfill all existing orders and continue the pioneering work of founder Arius Blaze in producing synthesizers, modules and electro-acoustic instruments. Arius will continue to be a creative contributor for future Folktek products and will assist in the fulfillment of all current orders.

The acquisition surely changes the nature of Folktek, which as I remember was a kind of art collective, modular synths being one of several aspects. But hopefully it doesn't change the approach and innovation on the modular side.

So, time to reopen the Folktek threads now that they launched the new website and will be shipping the orders out, and taking the new ones in?

Not sure what you mean. All of the threads in this sub-forum are open. If there are others that are located elsewhere, please provide a link and I'll move them into this sub-forum and see if they merit being unlocked.
