Nice Mini Modular, too! I miss that synth...
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
anyone know what happened to MW Mike`s 12 module system? anyone on here end up with it?
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
I thought he had that evenfall as well on IDOW if i remember correctly.
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
Thanks, yes it's me.
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
I'll post much more later when I have time to write, but this is how things shook out for the week-long party I just played, mostly on the Wiard:
First, this is the smaller setup I played in between the headlining band's sets in a barn, patched up primarily as a big gnarly Zeroscillator->Wave Multiplier patch with Klee and Wogglebug modulation, no filter (!), just 4 VCAs on one of the joysticks, feeding a quadrophonic PA. It was SUPER effective
But the main Wiard-ness was happening in the house, where I had this 6 voice patch set up on the Wiard, with an Erica Synths DB-01, and an SH-101 to accompany. I spent Sunday->Tuesday patching this, mostly without sound, then tweaked it a bit Wednesday morning once I got the speakers set up. Then Wed night -> Saturday night, I played this one patch (plus various DB-01 randomized patterns, a dubby bassline on the SH-101 that I re-wrote every night, and some wild scrambling of the Komplex sliders) for two to three of the wee small hours of the morning, when everything else was winding down. Probably 10 hours total performance, just from this patch, which maybe shouldn't have surprised me, but it did!

Apologies for asking non-Wiard questions regarding your other worldly rig and gig...
What is the tall blue unit two slots under the Vermona?
What is on top of the red Electrix unit?
p.s. Holy Crap.

Looks like a blue Möbius sequencer...MindMachine wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 6:59 pm Apologies for asking non-Wiard questions regarding your other worldly rig and gig...

Love this stuff -- nice!
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
Well… thank you for liberating me from the mindset that Wiard systems are either 6 or 12 modules

Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
revtor got both of them right!MindMachine wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 6:59 pm What is the tall blue unit two slots under the Vermona?

For the Mobius, I talked Jered into selling me a blem panel for cheap, then sent it to Jeff Toman at Customsynth, who made the blue vinyl overlay and aced the glue (?) job.
The 777 is also modded, with Osc sync, an LFO->filter, and "endless drone" mods, plus a few "hit accent amount/filter mod/accent duration harder" knobs along the back. Given the sonic environment in the barn, if I was using it at all, it was probably doing something like the 4:30 mark in this demo video I made uh...a decade ago

Other 300 series sized modules in this rig that I *think* are "1 of 1" include the dual Zeroscillator, a quad Topp 281, quad MOTM VC Switch, quad Thomas White 292C LPG, Quad MFOS Quantizer, dual Fonitronik Attenuverting Mixers, dual Blacet Binary Zone, Dual Synthesis Technology E350, and the double-wide Flame Clockwork/Metalbox Gate Sequencer. I have the FPD files for the panels for most of those; if you want to DIY up the circuits and mount them into your Wiard rack, PM me and I'm happy to share...though they aren't cheap, for pieces of engraved blue metal that might not come close to the right color after adonizing.
(I'm pretty sure there is at least one other Metalbox Wave Multiplier, and Wiard Boogie LP/HP filters out there in the world. Most everything else is stock Wiard, 20 modules in all including the 311C)
EDITED TO ADD: Oh. Duh. And the mixer, an MFOS stereo mixer, with MFOS VCAs in front of all 4 mono (with two VCA inputs) and both stereo (just one CV in) channels, 2 stereo aux send/returns, in a bombproof 3U rack case, all put together by Metalbox.

Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
So uh, is this actually a safe place to discuss what's good about the Wiard and why, without people going batshit?
What are they doing, in the dream house
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
It seems like this, indeed, would be the place.
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
I would certainly hope so! I'm game for the discussion, anyway. I have augmented it with other modules because I had specific notions about clock mangling, switching, and such, but I will stan the stock modules all day, and if I am struck with some disastrous financial catastrophe, they will be the last modules I ever sell.
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
You are indeed the (p)Lord of Wiard!
Are you lemon? Does your head come to a nub?
Re: Post pics of your Wiard!
Uh. One more custom module
Quad CGS Sequential Switch, Mike at Metalbox put it together for me. It's the one left of the MFOS stereo mixer, in the split 3U row between the 300 series stuff.
This track uses Two wogglebugs, 8 of the outputs through one of those sequential switches, through both sides of a Borg, one side is just the kick (input is the Woggle CV output with a short enough woggle time that it is in the audio range), the other side shapes the SS output which is every other sound *except* the high hat, which is one half of a Wogglebug with ranges maxed, cluster off, woggletime min. A Frac VCS for kick envelope, IIRC, nothing else. Clock comes from the WB LFO out, all sonic variation and tempo coming off the 311C joysticks.
(I'd forgotten about that one. Super happy with it!)
