Flanger value for R88

Post by eljay »

Hi Tony, I'm just about to build a second flanger, I built my first some time ago using the V2.0 builders guide. For this one I am using the V2.5 builders guide and the only change I have noticed in the parts list is that R88 has been changed from 1K to 120R. Should I retrospectively apply the same change to my earlier Flanger build, they are both Issue 2 PCBs.

The lowering of R88 means that the point at which self-oscillation occurs is the more or the less the same in both the POS and NEG feedback modes. Previously one mode was slightly more sensitive than the other.

If you don't have your Flanger set to self-oscillate (I don't) then the original 1K value will probably be quite sufficient. If you do like to take it to self-oscillation or very near it, then changing R88 to 120R or 100R is to be recommended.
