One of my favorite paradoxes is that the most ominous, creepy or heartbreakingly sad and poignant tunes are in Major.

I do find it an odd question. But I don't have a favourite colour either.
My favourite is using 2 different ones at the same time that don't quite fit together.

I've been fond of mixolydian lately simply because I've been making a lot of minor based dark/melancholic stuff - but also something about using only major chords in a composition, not bound to any scale necessarily, just seems to click sometimes.

Dorian would be take the second place.

What does Aeolian (VI - natural minor) transtle to on keys ? can't seem to find anything other than sheet music (which I can't read). Curious to try it out :)

Just start playing the relative major key from the 6th degree.

C major: C D E F G A B

A Aeolian: A B C D E F G

To begin, play it over A(m) as tonic to draw out the flavour and avoid gravitating towards C.
Don't believe the hype.

It depends on which key you are in. The aeolian mode is the major scale, but with a flat 3rd, 6th and 7th. The flat 6th in particular gives the mode a certain sound (in my opinion!)

For example, the E major scale consist of the following notes:

E F# G# A B C# D#
1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Flat the 3rd, 6th and 7th:

E F# G A B C D = E Aeolian / E minor

You can do this with any key :)
New murky music that will take you on a journey through a land of mystery and wonder:

I'm having a love affait with Locrian since a few years, i've made almost every track using this mode for a long time hahaha. I'm starting to get into Harmonic and Melodic minor a bit more tho.

When I want to play music within the western tonal paradigm and modal systems I don't use a synthesizer. The synth allows me to disregard all that.
I am my own source of uncertainty.

all are „other“ — in descending order:
phrygian dominant
dorian #4
double harmonic (hungarian) minor
double harmonic major (aka byzantine)
neapolitan minor
neapolitan major
diminished half-whole
that UFO behind me is real

Don't forget the Mystic scale, 6 notes that I can't remember at the moment! Also called the Prometheus scale or Prometheus chord.
