Installing both MOTM and MU power connectors for the ASV

Post by waldenpotato »

Can both the MOTM and MU power connectors be installed for the ASV? I would only use one or the other when installed into a case, but it might be nice to have both options available.

Yes, but...

When using the MU connectors with a standard Dotcom power supply you also need to link pins 2 and 3 on the MOTM PSU2 header. Although, if you are using my MU Dizzy you don't need to do this.

The MOTM power headers perform better than the MU headers. They're bigger and can use bigger cables - thus lower resistance and less likelihood of problems.

Right now the plan is to use your 5U power supply with a MOTM and an MU dizzy board for the most flexibility. I'm glad to hear that I can install both headers.

I have to ask - if I purchase non-Oakley MU modules to use with the MU Dizzy board, do I have to do any extra link connections in that scenario?

No. You also only need to use the standard MU four way power cable.
