Contemporary music with a Pierre Henry vibe?

Post by Devilwidget » Mon May 17, 2021 11:45 am

I'm really into early Pierre Henry experiments, all noisy, tempo-less rhythms and cascading scratches, bloops and blips...

Is there anyone working these days who does that kind of thing? Much of the more contemporary musique concrete is a lot more... polite, or uses noise as a means of being 'noisy' rather than as an artifact of the sounds being toyed with.

Any other Henry fans who can point me in the direction of similar contemporary artists?

Robin the Fog's Howlround project is four 1/4 inch tape machines, a crappy mixer and some found sounds.

Howlround has 2 distinct phases, the early less noisy work and the more recent noisier work, and a kind of mid period.

Lionel Marchetti's 'La grande vallee / micro-climat' is one recent one that comes to mind.
