How to access the Disting Ex web editor
How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Now that the supersonic poly wavetable algo exists, how to access the Web Preset Editor? I see the link to Github but I have no idea how to navigate the site to get to the editor. Thx
Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
On the Github page click on "Code" and select "Download Zip". Unzip it and open the Preset Editor HTML file in Chrome browser.
Connect the MIDI In/Out from the Expert Sleepers MIDI expander module to your MIDI interface - in my case I'm using an old Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, and make sure to set the input and output ports in the Preset Editor to match this. Then click refresh on the Editor each time you select a new algorithm on the EX - it seems to work with all algorithms.
It's working a dream for me, am just playing around with sending sequences from Logic piano roll to the Disting while fiddling with the editor and have to say huge thanks to Os because this is a revelation and I expect I will use the EX a lot more simply because controlling it from the editor is so easy and pleasurable. I know this will go against the grain for some modular purists, as it's involving the computer, but as a happy hybrid Modular/DAW person I don't have a problem with it. Am actually finding myself wishing the parameters in the Editor could have automation recorded in the DAW like a software instrument but perhaps that's a step too far away from the spirit of modular? (Unless perhaps a future version of the editor could find its way into a Silent Way update instead of via web browser...?!)

Now there's an idea! <thinks>
In the meantime don't forget that you can automate everything via MIDI CCs.

Hi I finally got my Tiny Midi Breakout working and now the web app will not connect. are there any setting I need to change in the disting to make this work?
Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
You've posted 3 times and edited one of the posts to say it was working. Is this working now?

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Hi sorry I think I posted once in the wrong thread. The midi breakout is working in and out but I still can't get the web app to connect. Thank you for reading!

Which firmware are you running?

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
I love my Disting Ex, but I upgraded to the latest firmware (1.13.2) from 1.8 (I believe that's what it was at) and now I can't connect with the web editor. I was able to connect moments before the update. I have confirmed that MIDI in and out is working. Looks like the web page sends MIDI to the right spot when hitting the refresh button but there's no response from the Disting Ex.
Have some settings changed that need tweaking?
Cheers!

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Hi. A couple suggestions:
* Re-download the latest Editor from GitHub. Not sure how much it matters, but it might.
* Power cycle (don't simply reboot) the Disting EX.
I suggest the latter because it seems like whenever something with my Disting EX that should be working suddenly doesn't, power cycling it usually does the trick.
Oh -- also, close Chrome and re-open the Editor, and be sure to answer Allow to the question about allowing it to access your MIDI devices.

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
You'll need the latest editor. The sysex protocol changed in 1.13.

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
I've been using the online editor (https://expert-sleepers.co.uk/webapps/d ... ditor.html) is this one no good anymore? I'll look at downloading the version at GitHub. Thanks!
Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Setting this up for the first time and I don't know why it isn't working. Here is my setup-
Macbook > MOTU M4 MIDI ins/outs > Breakout > Disting EX
MIDI in and out is working just fine but this is all I see on the Preset editor:
Firmware is updated and I have tried the web editor as well as the Github version.
Any help is much appreciated!

When you say "MIDI in and out is working just fine", how have you tested that?

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
When I hit refresh on the editor, I see a blip on the Disting screen. I can play notes from my DAW to the Disting and from the Disting to my DAW (the Misc test note shows activity in my DAW)
Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Does the SysEx Device ID in the editor match that set on the module?

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
On the website dropdown I've tried 0 which should be the default and I've also tried 1 but I don't actually know where that setting is on the Disting. The manual says it's under "MIDI/I2C page 2" but I don't have a page 1 and 2, just one menu called "MIDI/I2C" and I don't see Sysex Device ID there.
Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Then you don't have the latest firmware, and it won't work.

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
I put the firmware update on my drive in the Disting but neglected to actually run the installation. Sorry to waste your time, it is indeed giving me the sliders now!

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
"Show MIDI history" will test the MIDI in. How have you tested the MIDI out? (There's a "test MIDI out" in the Misc menu.)

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Yes i did midi goes both ways just fine. The connection used to work using a behringer soundcard i had borrowed, but i didnt manage with (in this case) going via an Argon synth or a Hermod sequencer. Is there any limitations here?
Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Possibly those devices don't pass SysEx messages.

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
I m facing this exact same issue
I m using Motu Ultralite Mk3 and have MIDI in/out tested (that works fine) and I do have the page 2 where Sysex ID is 0, however i too am unable to load the interface with the sliders with the parameters listed. Is there some way I can verify if anything else is missing on my side?

Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Next problem ahead; when trying to enable cv or button mapping this message comes up - and a high pitch beeping starts!
After that nothing works, and a restart is sometimes need to make the sysex connection again...
What does that mean?
On Ventura 13.3.1, latest version of Chrome
Re: How to access the Disting Ex web editor
Which disting EX firmware are you running? Do you have the corresponding tool version?
