Expert Sleepers ES-9 - No audio out

Post by foxjbowden » Tue Mar 17, 2020 3:30 pm

Hello,

I have looked everywhere and I cannot figure out why my ES-9 isn't outputting audio from the headphones or the audio LR outs. It was like this right out of the box. I can get audio when I use it as an I/O with my mac but I just can't sue it with headphones and speakers. How do I turn them on in both standalone and host modes? I have tried messing with the configurator, resting to default with no luck. Thanks!

If you want to use it without a USB connection you need to configure the internal mixer to mix the analogue inputs to the outputs.

I suggest you update to v1.1.1 before going any further.

I did update it yesterday. I tried to change things around but it wasn't working. Maybe it's just a bit hard to understand user interface of the mixer app? Any suggestions or tutorials on how to make the necessary changes?

Something like this would mix the first 8 inputs to the main outs and headphones:

Can you only mix 8 inputs to the physical outputs? I thought it would just be something simple like everything out to headphones.

In the current firmware the internal mixer is limited to 8 inputs.

OH WHAT A RELIEF AFTER JUST WRITING YOU in the other thread AND eMail ABOUT NO SOUND from my headphones (oops caps lock, sorry) thanks to your reply here above I did get sound out from the phones instead of just the DAW now :yay:

Is there any other way (in current Firmware) to bypass that mixer with a BUS or something to all the other ES-9 channels to the PHONE L+R and/or get everything going out over STEREO OUTS 1+2 ( ie without the DAW) ???

thanks, PETE

If you want to mix all 14 inputs to headphones, you can do that with the beta firmware found here:

Am I supposed to update Firmware somewhere to 1.2 I am trying to use the Beta Version through Chrome but it says that it is not compatible with my Firmware version in the Es-9 and wont configure Inputs 9-14.

Thank you

Yes, you'll need to install the firmware if you want to use it.

I am having a similar problem.

New ES-9, I updated to the latest firmware (1.2.2).

1. With the default configuration I attempted sending a hardware oscillator through to each input on the ES-9 and was not able to hear any audio through the headphone output.

2. I edited the configuration file to the following:
configuration 10-13-2021.PNG
I am able to send audio signals from my host PC to the device outputs and monitor via the headphone output. I cannot however send audio into the ES-9 inputs and monitor those via the headphone output.

Any help in seeing what I am missing on the configuration side would be greatly appreciated!

I solved my own problem. I just needed to make the mixer block inputs the actual ES-9 inputs. Seems to work fine now! Thanks!
