my brand new modular AM/FM radio - HanRongDada

...enjoy broadcasting!

8-)
That looks fun. How is the reception?
Well, with FM the reception is as usual - more or less noise free - so the use depends on the current program. More interesting is AM - you can use the small radio like SOMA ETHER - it receives many different waves - even in your rack (e.g. displays or other high frequency sources). I think in the evening you will also hear some foreign programs.

For about 12 euros, this is a perfect source for some noise experiments. It runs on a USB battery for about 15 hours. It would be cool to hack it for some CV.

Klark-Teknik BBD-320 and 76-KT.

There was a dude trying to sell two BSS 402 for 440 USD each. After a while nobody wanted to buy these I kindly asked him one for 385. He wouldn't want the deal to happen - fair play it's his choice.

I think the price on these spiked when somebody posted a photo of one in Emptyset's live rig :miley:

Our old Numark CD MIX 2 is on its last legs, so I replaced it with a new old stock Vestax VCM 004XL DJ mixer and a new old stock Stanton C.503 DUO CD player.

I've been a bit of a Vestax fanboy since I had a nice PMC-15 mkII back in 2000 and ended up having to sell it. I was surprised and disappointed when Vestax went out of business, so I was quite glad to be able to find a pristine, never used VCM 004XL.

Guess what...an almost unused 2.5k with warranty for 2750$. I could not resist on that offer.

I chose between the Mäag EQ4M and the 5500 last year while not in favour for the latter. I love the sound, color and character that the 5500 adds and I think it's going to find a place in my rack in future too. Most severe GAS is given by pro 192 gear for me. More than any synth or module ever did. But I doubt that there's a 5500 to find for such a deal.

Gotharman PolySpaze in custom red color :foul: It’s an alaong-digital hybrid polysynth with sampling, granular features, sequencers and lots of audio mangling potential.

Just got this Studio Electronics Boomstar Oscillation in the mail today. Amazingly underrated, stable and excellent sounding oscillator. Was using an STO as the main analog oscillator in my rig before this but the Boomstar is here to stay!

For less than the price of the rack they’re in, an FM synth, a rackmount Juno Alpha, and a primitive pitch shifter. All work, one needs a battery. Might replace some silly big stuff.

The word "booty" really does apply to this one. I was buying groceries yesterday when someone told me there was a storage unit sale happening. This is an annual event where one of the local storage companies lets their renters sell whatever they want from their storage lockers. It was around 11am and the sale started at 8 so every dealer and picker in the area would have gone through it and I didn't have much hope of getting anything of any value but there are always CDs, books and parts for my projects at these sales so I went. There was a big pile of free stuff in front of one of the storage lockers and I picked a very dusty and beat up Crown D-150A Series II power amplifier out of it. As I walked the heavy amp back to my car, I spotted an electric guitar for sale in front of another locker. It was dinged up with broken strings and a good coat of dust but I could tell it was a well made guitar even though I wasn't familiar with the brand, Schecter. The price was so low it might as well have been free, less than the price of a decent lunch. I didn't even notice it was a seven string guitar till I got home. I looked up the brand and ordered new strings. It's one of the lower priced guitars from Schecter but it's still a guitar that retails for more than 500 hundred dollars. After dusting it off and checking it out, there's a bit of cosmetic damage but nothing that would affect the sound and the fret board is nice and wide and I've been looking for an electric guitar with a wide fret board so this one is a keeper. Not to mention an extra bass string so I can do all kinds of bass riffs with it.

I'm going to service and sell the amplifier. I just recently set myself up with a dual trace oscilloscope and two signal generators for diagnosing amps and audio processors and this will be project number 3 for my new setup. The photo is from stage 2 of the disassembly and cleaning. I'm at stage 4 now and will be ready to power it on and test it tomorrow.

I had a few too many wines last night and in a moment of weakness purchased the following instruments (all second hand note though):

Note / Disclaimer - I Did have most of the original synths way back in the 90's (apart from the JX-03) and sold them, which was a very foolish move, considering I bought the TB-303 from a music shop in Oldham for forty pounds. The 303 was boxed, in its original case and in mint condition, the bloke selling it hadn't a clue what it was and... I actually bartered him down on the price. I also, bought a TR-909 for 125 pounds, the SH-101 was a staggering 100 pounds and Jupiter 8 I cannot recall right now, but it was not much, I also had a Matrix 1000, and a whole host of other now valuable things.

I sometimes sit here weeping into my chest wondering what I was thinking of...

And I have REALLY no idea where the Hell I am gonna put them all! And I still have a few more to find before I get the full set...

The following video may inspire you to organise your Roland Boutiques. If you read the comments he uses Jaspers stands.

https://www.thomann.de/gb/keyboard_stan ... 5D=Jaspers

Another option is the Tower B stand by AMS (Advanced Modular System) stands. It's designed specifically for the Roland Boutique series and not only.

My Anyma Phi arrived yesterday. I'm running a virtual conference this weekend, so it unfortunately won't get any play. I did also order a Korg Sigma that I suspect will need a little TLC when it arrives (at least new joysticks).

Alex Ball's vids really make me love the performance features on it. It may not be the most capable synth, but the dual joysticks and aftertouch features look and sound great. This ups my vintage analog synths to 3, all from 1979. It also came with a case... My only other current* vintage desires might be a Delta to go with it at some point and a Moog Source. (I suppose if I found an EDP Wasp for cheap, I'd grab it...)

*This is subject to change...

The last thing I bought was last summer when I got a Lexicon LXP-15 with scratchy pots. Turns out there was big damage on the PCB tracks around the PSU area: fixed that, replaced caps there and a diode, cleaned it up and it works.

I have moved away from the continuous 'GASing' a long time ago. In fact, during the lockdown period and after being quite sick, I decided to do a deep dive again in my Kurzweil K2500 + KDFX which I already know quite in-depth.

Found a ton of new ways to use it, greatly expanding both the Synthesis algorithm possibilities (someone here told me the hardware can't do this, yet I did it) and the Digital Effects possibilities. The latter is especially interesting when I put the effects processor in outboard mode so that I can use it as AUX sends on my Soundcraft Delta 200 mixer so that all my gear can benefit from not just the default KDFX, but all those new configurations I devised.
