Funny, this.

Was looking at Korg thinking that if anyone was going to do a relatively straightforward, reasonably uncomplicated WYSIWYG sequencer, it'd be them. So far it sounds like it has some quirks + idiosyncrasies, to say the least. I expect I can live with those if the good generally outweighs the bad—and then wait (as many of us w/ preorders currently are) again for a firmware upgrade.
I really like the design and workflow Korg have come up with here, which make the bugs and issues even more frustrating. I hadn’t been too bothered about them, but they’re really starting to annoy me (especially the pattern sync issue), and that’s because I’ve really clicked with it and so want to be able to rely on it. I’m going to stick with it and hope Korg does step up pretty soon.
I see you're in the UK. While we wait stateside, Korg is putting the UK user base (and presumably some EU folks) through the beta testing ringer :-)
Thank you for your service!
Cheeky. The joke may be on you, though, if Korg does nothing about it by the time it's stateside (or far longer)!

That said, I won't complain if they do.

On-topic: This thread answers my question. The thing sounds like it shipped in a janky state. Thanks wigglers, I shall sit this one one for now.

I had one on backorder, then I got frustrated and cancelled it, then I got frustrated and re-backordered it, now I'm frustrated that it keeps getting delayed.

Maybe I should be glad that it keeps getting delayed?

Edit: After some thought (not much), I cancelled the order. I'll get a BSP instead. Love me some Arturia anyway.

Ah, a MusicRadar review. They are rather effusive in their praise:

I'm definitely not cancelling my order just yet ;)

I like it. It's pretty intuitive to use and certainly well built. Yes the quirks are irksome, but it's not been a show stopper for me. For the money, it's just a firmware update away from being brilliant.
Perhaps Korg might even open source the soft/firmware for it? They seem to be onboard with that sort of thing these days, so who knows..

But I've already seen reviews full of effusive praise, which is why I ordered one (twice) in the first place.

You know you're gonna order it for a third time, sooner or later... :hihi: (JK, have a blast with BSP!)

Just to be clear, getting frustrated with Korg is useless. They're frustrated too. Global supply chains, yo.

There is a 9 month backlog of ships to be unloaded at Port of LA alone. That's probably where your SQ64 is.

 You might be right. I hope so, actually. But the BSP is here and it also has solid construction and a delightful form factor. And it's that Arturia sort of Olympic white that most of my other gear has...

Good looking out! I think I'll head to the San Pedro docks tonight in search of my SQ-64...what's the worst that could happen?

This seems like a no brainer for having a master sequencer. I can definitely see the value in this with all the possibilities for CV Gate/Clock. But sadly I might wait until I’m stuck without one.

Korg updated the Microkey Air when it ceased to work with a newer macOS and iOS the other year. There was also a flurry of updates for the NTS-1 upon launch.

There’s a firmware update now available. It’s not clear exactly which bugs have been fixed, but it does mention the out of sync issue that’s been driving me a bit crazy.

Sync issue appears to be fixed. I had an issue where copying one pattern to another location would delete that pattern in the first location. That is fixed now too.

Biggest remaining issues for me are the lack of quantize & inability to edit when the pattern chain is running. D channel still unable to record what you play in from an external source, despite passing the midi through to the outputs.

Lack of quantize is still a major handicap, but at least it doesn't feel completely broken now that the patterns work properly.

Quick question
how do I get the SQ-64 CV out work the VCF in of a Behringer Model D?
I would like to use the SQ-64 a “midi > cv converter” feeding it a midi cc from Cubase and then the SQ-64 to translate this to CV and adjusting the VCF of the D. Is this possible?
Can’t even get step 1 to work (connect CV out to VCF) turn a knob on the SQ-64 while D is playing a pattern, can this be done?
Or do I need to go into controller mode?

The above demo states that using apoweredUSB hub (or an output of 2A) with the micro cable bypasses the need for a separate power adapter.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I'm using a simple IKEA 3-port usb charger and get 2A from it. The buttons light up nicely.
(I can set the sq-64 to use 0.5A, but the light becomes to dim in that case.)

Thanks for sharing. That's excellent news to me! Looks like I may not need an extra wall-wart (KA350 adapter) after all.

(I have already posted this question on Gearslutz/Gearspace, but this forum appears to be somewhat more active.)
Does anybody have problems with the duration of the gates?
When I set the gate of a step to 100%, I would expect to hear a sound for the complete duration of the step. But in reality, the sound stops after 50% of the duration of the step. It is very obvious when you set the tempo real slow and use 1/4 notes.
When I use my Keystep with a gate of 90%, I really get a sound for 90% of the step duration. So I am wondering whether this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong. If there is anybody who can test this out, I'd be really happy.
I'm using MIDI, not CV.
