Re: Behringer 2600
Nonsense. Wouldn't have changed my mind if I had pre-ordered. Korg will sell all they can make.
Re: Behringer 2600
AMSynths modules seemed to be quite good before, but as they partnered with behringer they turned into cheap chinese crap...or this is what some people want us to think.
Rob explains it quite well himself, behringer has the resources he did not have before, and for him as an engenier is an exciting opportunity.

Re: Behringer 2600
Rob Keeble is involved so I am sure it will be a credible effort (don't know who is slagging of Amsynths now but their modules have attracted high praise before). As far as the korg version is concerned, the thing about prestige (or Veblen) goods is that the existence of cheaper alternatives actually increases the desirability of the more expensive variant. It's not about utility but status.
Re: Behringer 2600
Yeah.. I watched the video. Did I miss something? ‘cause I didn’t see a Behringer ARP prototype or anything specific like that... it was just an interview and they had a legit vintage ARP on screen. It could be any number of things at this stage. Is wouldn’t cancel my Korg preorder just yet guys.
Anyways, even if they do make a clone I’d still rather buy a Korg than a Behringer.. I bet many share the sentiment.
Re: Behringer 2600
If both the sound quality and build quality are good, and it comes in at a price I can afford, I'll probably buy two!
Best,

the video said "part one". i'm sure they're gonna build up hype over the course of the day with an unveil at the end of the show.cg_funk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 11:20 amYeah.. I watched the video. Re: Behringer 2600
I'm not sure that's quite all of it. Behringer seem to have the ability to take a good design, and then engineer it down to make it slightly cheaper than the minimum standard for not being that bit too horrible sometimes. It's less noticeable on something super-simple like stop boxes or the TD-3, but their clones of more complex synths, mixers etc., always have obvious functional and quality flaws as well as a chequered QA history. I'm pretty sure the designer of the Neutron knew their stuff too, before the production people got their hands on it.
Often for cheap/simple utility bits and bobs (like patch bays for non-critical home use) they're fine. I wouldn't trust them with anything too complicated though.

Re: Behringer 2600
I partially agree, but not sure that I fully agree that it's quite that polarised.
Might just be me, but once my Korg 2600 arrives, I'll still be interested in the Behringer. They are both only mono synths after all.
Where have I seen you before?
Same place you saw me, I expect.
I've got a good face for memories.

Behringer be workin’ on their poly AT keyboard remember? That’s what it’ll come with.SynthBaron wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 2:55 pmIt's probably not going to come with the keyboard like the Korg.

Re: Behringer 2600
For somebody like myself on a limited budget, the Behringer 2600 may be affordable (I haven't seen any hints of price to say if it will be). I would love to have the Korg 2600 but it's too expensive for me to even consider buying one.
Re: Behringer 2600
But the Karp2600 sold out anyway as far as I was reading yesterday?
In any case, there is the expensive 1:1 re-creation that people who want the expensive 1:1 re-creation, will buy.
And there will be a cheaper version with what remains to be seen/heard. Personally I am a big fan of the original 2600 but not big enough (or wealthy enough) to splash out on the Karp2600. I am also tight in space in the studio...So I *might* get the Barp, especially if it sounds as close as the Boog model D, sounds to the Minimoog.
Behringer has seriously upped their game and I think it will have the character, the functionality and will cost about 600€-700€.
Also, Rob Keeble is a legend...if Uli listens to him, Behringer is going to turn even more haters, into lovers

Re: Behringer 2600
What would be cool would be if Keeble made a modular ensoniq mirage since he's cloned the filter in euro, all he'd need to do would be to make a wonky 8-bit sampler to stick in front of it.
Hell, I'd take a knobby neutron style synth with mirage filters--or a 1 voice modular ESQ-1. Sorry, totally off topic. I've just recently discovered his designs and now that behringer is pretty deep into its clone frenzy, I'd love to see them adapt some of Keeble's more obscure clones.

Re: Behringer 2600
Behringer makes it possible to everybody to discover the great gems of electronic instruments. To me thats a good thing. That doesn’t make me to cancel my order of the Korg Arp 2600 or replace my Moog Model D to a Behringer Model D. But I’m happy to all who can enjoy the same great sound (and who is not a purist fool as I am but spend their money more wisely) for a cost that is reasonable. Let’s make a joyful noice!

Re: Behringer 2600
I think this is a totally different beast than the Korg FS/Reissue or whatever you want to call it - as many said, a different target audience. Where it gets tricky is if Korg releases a "mini". That would compete.
My guess is that the KARP 2600 mini would look and feel just like the FS but smaller. A scale model, as it were. We know the BARP 2600 has lighted sliders. It most likely will have a sequencer, most likely arpeggiator. They seem to stick distortion on everything, so that too. And most likely digital effects, though possibility of analog chorus. Both? A wild guess is the KARP mini will be about $1599 and the BARP 2600 $899. So which do you want? Another guess is there will be speakers and spring reverb on KARP, there will not be spring reverb nor speakers on BARP. Make the decision easier? I like a real spring reverb much more than digital effects. Much, much more. But hundreds of dollars more? We'll see... I also like the idea of speakers.
I do think there will be room for both, if Korg does go that way. I hope they do.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing this (BARP 2600) beyond the hints...
