This is always such an exciting week! I doubt this will be a 'buy' for me, but that interface is enticing. I hope I get to spend some time on one soon.

Any guess as to cost?
I slapped butter all over keys, knobs, cords, smeared screens with Coleslaw, pelted with Reese's Pieces, broke a Twix in half, stuck in... and after... I swung them all over above my head, pirouetted on their corners on top of a shaky rattan diner table spun like tops, but made sure nothing dropped. Toasted coconut n tested for salmonella were found in surprising places weeks after. I had so much fun.

super stoked to see korg heading into the real “digital“ realm again. i prefer digital synths, the weirder the better too.

this seems like an obvious next step for korg considering they did the volca fm that let you upload patches for the dx-7, assuming this has a similar engine and code.

Interesting to see this comes with 7 octave keyboard. Wonder if Korg will release a deskptop version at lower price.

:?:
I count 5 octaves on that picture?!
... why buy it for $100 when you can build it yourself for $150?

Apparently the operators can be set to FM, ring mod, wave folding, and filter FM.

This is more than just a DX7 clone.

Hoping for a desktop module. And a pic of this keyboard that’s zoomed in on the part that could become a desktop module..

I really hope this thing is real. 6 operator FM - even with just sines waves - is immensely powerful. Imagine all the ways you could patch 6 oscillators, envelopes, and VCAs on your modular!

The only thing that has stopped me from picking up a vintage DX7 is that its parameters cannot be mapped to MIDI CCs, hence cannot be “played” in real time. I’m sure the Korg version would have proper midi implementation, and maybe even MPE support.

I’m not going to buy anything until we get the official word from Korg :hyper:

Very happy to see this; seems to address all the issues of the Volca that we were hoping for: More voices, touch sensitivity. Only sinewaves would be fine with me; keeping with the 'Nu-DX' vibe (and still allowing for porting of all available patches from DX-land/Volcatown).

I had a DS-8 (or was it DS-1? can't remember) back in the day; after the DW days, Korg had settled into that M1-chic time of very 'digital-sounding' voices. And of course, the editing...!

I hope so too but Korg haven't the greatest history with supporting midi. I'd never buy one of their products prior to its midi functionality (that I'd actually need) being finalised.

This thing looks great though, I want to believe.
Looking forward to more details on those sliders

Holy shit, something I'm excited for at NAMM!
Now comes the inevitable question of the price... I'm hoping :75:

Hopefully they will add these modern much-needed features...

An envelope for feedback amount!
Separate LFO's for each operator (6 LFO's for 6 operators per voice)
Randomization of note-on pitch
Randomization of note-on Envelope rates
Randomization of note-on voice Pan
Randomization of LFO rates
Easier editing of envelopes

Don't throw anything at me BUT wondering how this could compare to the Buchla 700? I know they will very different but FM plus wavefolding and decent filtering ... one can dream right?

This is the synth I've been hoping, for years, that Yamaha would make. Never even considered Korg. Props to them and boo to Yamaha.

I'm definitely interested in this, looking forward to demo sounds.
