woot! DetMod has them in stock. mines should be here Wednesday. i am EXCITED.
Stoked for you! I got mine about 3 months ago and it’s beyond all expectations, truly. I’ve complied quite a collection over the last 25 years and S6 is literally in my top 5, maybe even top 3.

i read through the entire thread, and it did nothing but ramp up my anticipations.

i've noobled around in electronic musics for decades, i gravitate towards noisy boxes more than traditional synths, this will be my first Big Boi mamba jamba.

i am EXCITE.

Yeah I haven’t been this interested in buying a poly synth in a long time. From the past ten years of new synthesizers being flooded into the market, this is the one that stands out to me the most. I’ve played it on three separate occasions and every time I can’t stop thinking about it for days. Once one of the local shops gets some blue ones in I’m pulling the trigger.

I think this synth is really a labor of love and isn't making UDO much money. Just the FPGA oscillators are like 10% the cost of the entire synth... It really feels like a nice change from some new synths that just feel like rehashed cash grabs. I really hope they get enough support to keep on going. I am still loving every minute with the super 6.

got mines in! not only is it GORGEOUS (i went with the grey), it sounds amaaaaaaazing.

lol. never used any older synths, so i need to go through the manual a bit.

but just cycling through the presets has been.... blissful. SO good.

MIDI over USB isn't a thing yet no? is that planned in the next update?

boof. back to the Big Chunkah Chunkah LOVE Box.

It really is an amazing synth. Ive owned a few vintage polys & have an Andromeda, & I can say that this synth very cleverly occupies a narrow & ambiguous sonic sweet spot between them all, both digital & analog. The structure is refreshingly different, yet tactile & accessible, and that FILTER is just BEYOND.... I wish it had poly aftertouch, but hey you cant have it all right?

Are there any bad critics about the synth? Seems like everybody is positive. If that would be so, I should rethink about getting this. I like the sound from the youtubes so far. I could sell something...maybe my kidney first...

I went with the grey as well.

I'll echo the same as the majority on this thread in that the S6 is very inviting to play and draws you in with the lay out. The sliders and knobs (which I have never felt like this on another synth) have the perfect amount of resistance and give to them. The overall craftmanship is practically impeccable. The sound has a character of it's own. Could be the binaural aspect or the oscillator structure, but damn it's just pleasing to the ears. A gem of an instrument and a keeper for sure!

Hats off to you and the team Georgie as this is a special beast.

It’s definitely my favorite synth of this century, honestly. So yeah, sell that kidney because you’ll still have one left. No brainer!

I could list some minor gripes with it, if that is what you are looking for. But I wouldn't call myself a critic of it. Hard to say without knowing what you would or wouldn't be looking for.

I will say its' biggest strength, in my opinion, is how fun it is to create a sound, and then move to another sound, and so on. I often play it starting with an initial patch and then move around from one to another, never touching the presets. I would say that there are better alternatives if you are only wanting a keyboard with some presets and never plan on touching the sliders while playing or you are looking for a desktop unit. But, I imagine someone else who really likes the sound of it would be happy doing just that.

even just going to the base starting point of Shift Manual is beautiful. Gaz from Sonic State talked about going in and watching The George just fine tuning and obsessing over the root waveforms. and it SHOWS.

thanks! it's so damn fun to play.

yessssssss. the blue is BEAUTIFUL, and going to be the iconic look of this modern masterpiece. but almost all my loot is black, i like a darker palette. the grey/black fits me way better.

woot for options!

While I love the color of my baby blue & dont regret it at all, since Ive been playing in darker lighting lately Ive noticed that Ive not been able to make out the white lettering on the light blue background at times. But maybe thats the point, like let the muscle memory do the work & play on without a bunch of words/parameters & signal flows staring you in the face....

Finally a recording showing some great S6 bass sounds! I was a little concerned that it wasn't a good bass synth.

The S6 is super thicc with the high-pass set to boost. I do wish it had a sweepable high-pass filter because I tend to find the fixed setting takes out too much and the linked setting is more of a special effect than general use IMO.

Noticed you have a Linnstrument right under the S6. Have you tried playing with the Linnstrument? If so I’d love to have your impressions.

only had a few hours with it, mostly running into MPE soft synths and the EssenceFM. super fun so far, but looking forward to setting up some presets to explore it fully.

Please post when you do. Would love to know how it works. I know that MPE isn't fully implemented yet but I bet it's still quite good.

UDO will announce a new product at namm Berlin in their newsletter.
Looking at the pic it will be another keyboard with kind of a similar looks than S6 (at least from the side perspective lol)
Exciting.
Will they go for a bigger monster or a smaller more affordable one?
Open guesses!

maybe S6 module?
if not I would preffer something completely different, like a sample-playback engine with the same analog filters

It has to be a super 6 module. No way they would come out with a new synth while we still only have beta firmware in the super 6.

I don't think it is a module when you check the picture, it seems to have a keyboard
Super12? :despair:
