Hehe :) I love the Alphabase ! But I would say that any drum machine + modular channel is a winning combo !

Here's a little stereo recording straight from the overstayer, little jam / improv with the AB and modular :

I'm so tempted to get this before the API 2500 I'm saving up for.

I've just ordered one :)
I hope it's not too long until it's made and that overstayer wasnt affected by the shortage of components

I ordered one about a month ago and the lead time was ~6 weeks. Not too bad at all.

They will reply to your PayPal email address with an approx lead time once they've processed the order (took around 5 days in my experience)

It was almost exactly two months from order to delivery of mine back in December. It's incredibly versatile. You can subtly or radically improve/transform anything in a few different ways very quickly.

Obviously there's a huge price difference and some feature difference here, but has anyone by chance compared the overstayer with the analog heat?

I have both but haven't done a formal one-to-one comparison of like features to directly compare the sound.

I do think the Overstayer offers a wider range applications and more numerous sweet spots, so to speak, due to the compression and the options you have for engaging and blending the different stages of the device. Meanwhile, it may be quicker to dial in a sound with the Heat, depending on how tricky you get with automation, sync, MIDI, etc.

Maybe another way to put it is that I'm happy to run all sorts of things through the Heat for some flavor, but I don't often find myself using it at the end of the mixing path to treat everything at once. Although, I'm sure someone out there is happily doing that, and I suppose I have used the Heat that way a couple of times when playing live with only a laptop and controller. It certainly provides a quick and satisfying way to do some final boosting/cutting and shaping before you hit the PA.

The Modular Channel, meanwhile, can contribute meaningfully in several ways on individual tracks or on the master bus in nearly every situation.

Tough to compare them as they each live in a fairly different category of component quality, design, and craftsmanship, despite the common features.

I'm listening to NOFX right now, logged into this thead and just thought how well this piece could work with this kinda sound. But then no effects...

I'm considering this as a sort of post-mixing, pre-mastering tool, but potentially also for the mixing process itself. If I am recording my modular with an ES-9, is the Modular Channel wasted on it? I'm pretty convinced that the ES-9 is high quality, but would appreciate some opinions here.

Thank you ! I've posted a new one last week if you're interested, still with the Overstayer strapped on the master.

Oh and I also made a video dedicated to the Modular Channel with the Jomox Alphabase :

Also now that I've spent quite a lot of time with it I'm more confident with it for production, pushing it more, and damn does it sound amazing. it's incredible what it does to a track.

I heard in an interview that Boyz Noize uses the Analog Heat when he’s away from his Overstayer. Personally I’m at the point where I’d rather hold out for the Overstayer.

Can anyone tell me what CV I/O is available on these units? The only thing I’ve found for certain is a side chain input for the compressor. One that showed up on Reverb recently mentioned unlisted CV patch points that were available on the particular unit and I am wondering if this is the case with all units.

From Overstayer:

“There are CV inputs for L&R SAT and one for the compressor. Nominal 0-5V. They’re standard issue, just haven’t made it to the manual yet. “

I’m not sure if the earlier units have the same CV but the current ones do

I got mine back in early 2019 and I have those CV inputs. Never use them though, personally I think CV over the low and high pass filter cutoffs, or something else related to the filter / eq, would be much more useful.

I guess I should try out the compressor one... wish it was clearer what exactly about the compressor it affects. Might be good to get some interesting dynamics happening though.

Just an FYI, I just hit 8 weeks of the 8 - 10 week estimate. I heard from Overstayer and they are predictably suffering from supply chain/component issues and they don’t have a solid ETA. I’m expecting another month at least before it’s ready. This is what I expected, but just wanted to give a heads up for anyone else that has placed an order recently.

I don’t mind waiting, I already waited 3 years to save up for it. Another month or two isn’t a big deal.

Ordered one back end of April. Still waiting with no ETA. That's a little over 4 months now.

I'm starting to get a little concerned.

Just a warning to everyone.

I wouldn't be worried though, component shortage is real and hits hard.
Worth the wait, best processing machine.
Hope I'll get one someday too.

I ordered mine at the end of March. The initial estimate was in May at some point, but yeah - no ETA at the moment.

They have always been a very reputable and friendly company, and I'm not concerned about the order.

Ordered at the beginning of August and given an ETA of November but it looks like that might have been a bit optimistic.

I am just about to order. I assume you use DS version with synths/drum machines?
