Hi,

I hope this is appropriate, otherwise Moderators please delete.

Just want to let the 5U community know.
Member Dr. Sketch-n Etch is offering his Frequency Shifter in MU/Dotcom format and I’ve just ordered one. :sb:

Here's a couple of pictures of the very first Dotcom-format Freak Shift, which I just finished building tonight -- I won't be adding too much to this thread, so please visit the other thread for all the info. Suffice it to say that this unit turned out very nicely -- it looks great and is as solid as a brick. $320 US plus shipping ($30 US to the US or Canada, and $50 US to ship internationally).

I have a 2MU/custom panel complex version. It's killer. Doc Sketchy's builds are top notch.

This new offering is a space-saving 1MU, plus it is more versatile, in the sense you can use any oscillator you want, not being limited to the built in VCO of the complex version.

Don't be hesitant like I used to be... Comparing this to the J.Haible FS... Go for it. No regrets.
No regrets.

Well, the orders have been flooding in (actually, I've received three since I posted lastnight, but that's a lot for one day). I have to order some more panel blanks from Dotcom, and then (the hard part) get them engraved. One thing about those panels is that they cannot be punched because the side flaps don't fit into my hand punch thingy. However, they are an absolute pleasure to drill, and the holes turn out very clean. It was actually a lot of fun to make this module, and I'm looking forward to making more. Also, there is something very satisfying about how the panel PCB fits down inbetween the panel flaps like it's plugged into a socket. This thing feels to me like a more sturdy piece of kit than the eurorack version. It's certainly the thing to grab to club a home invader to death with.

So, what's better than a Dotcom-format Freak Shift? Two Dotcom-format Freak Shifts! Here is the first matched pair, being sent to a lucky wiggler in Scotland (where, if it's not Scottish, IT'S CRAP!!).
