Really loving the Topographic Drum Sequencer. Love how I can make cool rhythms without a drum machine.

great use of the Top Seq AB! I had one of the Grids in Euro and sort of miss how useful and easy to come up with really interesting sequences. You have a great feel going here and nice choice of sounds aa well.

Did a video to test out some new modules and have a go at drum sequencing from my MC707.

Thundrum never quite fitted in but kept its contribution to a small part.

shout out to the Q170 that made this possible!

Cool setup Hamilsynth! I've been lusting for a dual seq controller C961D from COTK but the money is very serious. I notice you have two of the single units. Did you have one and decide to go for a second one later?

exactamundo....

wanted to jump straight in with a dual, as I had come from Eurorack and used a uStep from intellijel which is a dual trigger seq.

I was going to buy one, and then sell it to buy a double, but was easier just getting another single sent over, as there is no additional functionality/space saving on getting the dual... just a cheaper cost.

the only thing is I have noticed that the reset logic can be a bit weird, but I think that's because it resets after triggering the step

I've been meaning to do a video on that module, so might have a play and see if I can show off a few more of its tricks....

no kind of great composition or anything, and normally i post this kind of textural exploration over on the 'drone your own' thread.

but it never ceases to amaze me how many different simultaneous sounds you can get out of a single Corsynth C104. i'm a fan. :hail:

Just comparing the Lower west side studio Discrete ladder filter (upper keybed), and the Conjured Circuits JP6 (lower keybed). Both patches are based around three oscillators each (Corsynth Oddyssey and Dotcom Q106).

R*S VCFQ (LPF, HPF, BPF based on Serge modular VCFQ), VSL VCF74 (based on Microkorg if I remember right), AMSynths8109 (LPF of Jupiter 8) , Klangbau Twin Peak Resonator (based on Rob Hordijk Blippo Box)

Excellent video Putte

The Oakley Discrete Ladder Filter is my personal favourite.

Moog Subharmonicon and 5U.

The SubH produces all voices except for the looping step sequence from the Q960. It is sent to an Ian Fritz Double Deka Ultrasonic VCO which is run through an Suit & Tie Guy Post Lawsuit LPF and Synthetic Sound Labs & Cat Girl Synth Tube VCA/Timbral Gate. The signal is finally routed into the Meris Hedra for some pitched delay as well.

A line out of VCO 1 Sub 2 on the SubH is run through the EchoFix tape delay and the motor of the delay is speed modulated by a voltage controlled LFO. The speed of the LFO and intensity is controlled by a Q119 step sequencer. The Q119 is stepped by a trigger from the SubH sequence 1 clock.

The high pulsing noise tone is a tap from the SubH vco 1 into an Oakley Ring Modulator and STG Sea Devils filter which is FM driven with white noise. That is sent into the Electro-Harmonix Canyon pedal in multi-tapped delay mode.

The bass tone is the SubH vco 2 sub 1 to an Oakley State Variable Filter in low pass mode.

The SubH is run through the Empress Reverb in modulation mode.
That was cool. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Thanks, Flareless, but there´s really not much to it. I just happened ta have the camera with me, and borrowed our bassists note stand to put it on (Which explains why it sways a bit). The lack of focus is my fault, though.
This isn´t a real serious attempt to compare the two. For instanse, I used different kinds of EG:s for them, so the envelope settings weren´t equal. I also could´ve used three Q106:s for the Discrete Ladder filter, but this was just a sudden idea to try them both. It feels like the Discrete ladder I´d say they´re both very smooth and fat. The difference is more obvious when the filters are opened. The JP6 gets some kind of fat sharpness, and the Discrete ladder filter still keeps its smoothness. I don´t know, they´re both my favorites.
Perhaps I should compare them to the Model D some time.

A March Sketch - 5U with Matriarch

Post by kindredlost » Sat Mar 20, 2021 10:49 pm

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2WcI2-pq-k
The warmer March winds blew a new synthesizer into the studio this week.
A patch on the Moog Matriarch to sequence the delay. The clock sync timing comes from the 5U modular and a synthesizers.com Q960 step sequencer. A Q960 is generating a simple 8 step revolving line to a Q106 vco. The step rest and ratchet timing is controlled by a Q963 trigger bus, two Q961 Interfaces and a triple switch (three Q128's in a module). There is also an STG Soundlabs Switch module to introduce the ratchet timing from a Mega Ohm Audio LFO2. The Echo Fix tape delay is used to loop a sound on sound layer of this sequence. White noise is run through a Jurgen Haible Tau Phaser. A fast sequence from the Q119 and Dove Audio WTF and Waveplane vco's is run through an EH Grand Canyon pedal. The chord lines are a System 8 Juno 106 clone of the 1984 Brass & Strings patch.
Recorded and mixed in real time to Cubase. Video edited in Final Cut Pro.

Wanted to see how close I could get to this iconic patch from Tomita. After I did, I made this step by step tutorial. Thank you to all the wigglers for notes and tips on how Tomita made this patch.

My big take away was to mix VCs more than I do.
