I ran out of room in my studio so decided my chillout room need more than just pretty lights and comfy furnishings - it needed a synth never to be recorded or frustrated over - just pure meditative build patch, tear down patch, leave cares behind...

naturally i wanted serge cos i am fascinated by patch programming and working from bare basics to form a whole constructed instrument, but at the same time getting lost in feedback loops and chain reactions;

Its only my first 3U of the case - but my new delve into elby will likely end in 24U across two 12u 84hp cases:

Here's my synth with bananas ,this is all home made ,pcb's panelss and all..and i couldn't wait to take panels to print shop for nice foil o print on aluminum ,there are few serge modules here ,2xvcs ,1x dusg ,'73 vcf ,programmer ,res eq ,waveshapers ,wavemultipliers ,positive/negative slew ,ssg ,extended adsr ..but i also have some electronotes modules like thru zero sinewave vco ,vca's ,svf ,and it's still under construction as i plan to have another row on the top ..no matter how slow i put modules there ,it's really done with very little investment in it ,i get my pcb's done locally mostly

My 'Seasel' in a homebuilt case (Closes patched =) )

The extra jacks at the top are 3 banana to 3.5mm, one flat +5v and one 6.3 to banana with a preamp!

The Seasel - great!
And I love minimalistic modular-

Beautiful!

Your top row is what I have for my “starter system,” while I wait on a sequencer and wave mult/res eq to fill an xl boat. Fun to see someone else with the TWS in smaller system, an under-appreciated module in my opinion!

Smaller portable instruments is the only way for me!
Nope, the case was just sheets of wood bought at the hardware store, everything (including the power supply and distribution inside) is entirely homemade (apart from the actual modules)

I wish I had space in there for a resEQ, unfortunately it's stuck to the VCM and I really really wanted the TWS, it us just incredibly amazing sounding, also for processing external signals!! But if I someday expand, reseq is top of the list!

And yeah, it's it's excellent system! Small but versatile and powerful!

Do you happen to have plans/dimensions for your case? I've been sketching ideas and perusing options, and your design is the closest I've seen yet to what feels ideal. Great work!

It’s been 20 months since I first attached PCBs to this panel and tonight I can say that I am satisfied with everything in it and that everything is working for now.
364A4536-BE8A-4D2F-AE4B-4C7D9F8F5061.jpeg

It started with a MFOS ultimate soundlab expander and a MFOS Quad Timbre bank. I then added two MFOS VCLFOs a MFOS dual VCA and a Barton Dual Full Wave Rectifier.

But I wasn’t satisfied with the QTB as it was. So I pulled it so that I can modify its CV behavior and give each CV an attenuator which will require more panel space.

In its place I found that I had room for two NLC Sloths and if I moved down the expander’s ring modulator, could add the Barton simple quantizer, and have room for two MFOS phase shifters.

I lurve phasers and was really aggravated that they didn’t work. But as I wrote in my previous post, I sulked for a while and then pulled them in favor of a pair of ECHOFXXX modules.

It’s a mess but it’s all in there and functional: (L-R)

external instrument buffer (blk) and envelope follower (org).

ADSR (org)

VCLFO (blue) and full wave rectifier (yel)

State Variable VCF ( green )

ECHOFXXX (2) (gold)

NLC sloths (2) (wht )

Simple Quantizer (cream) and
Four quadrant multiplier (yel)

CV inverter and multiples (gry)

VCAs (3) (red)

VCLFO (blue) full wave rectifier (yel)

(Bottom) Audio Mixer (pink) headphone out (blk)

Great system. The MAQ16 looks modified? Because of the outputs at the front.

It's kinda reassuring to see a photo with a somewhat messy room. All those photos in other threads of minimalistic rooms with JUST a synth rack in the middle, like a hightech zen garden, was starting to give me a complex.

Very nice setup. I'm finding Buchla stuff more and more fascinating the more I look into it.
