Graphic EQ pedals

Post by chorus7 » Mon May 03, 2021 5:58 am

Does anyone know if there are any graphic EQ pedals that have extreme cut and boost? Most I have seen are 18db/-18db not sure if that will cut that frequency band or just reduce it slightly?

Many thanks

... if you place two (more?) graphic EQs in series you will double the amount of cut/boost. For example, placing one 18db graphic EQ in series with another 18db EQ will produce a 36db boost/cut "EQ". I use this method all the time with my bass guitars ... I used to use a rack mount stereo 15 Band graphic EQ and run one of it's channels directly into the other channel producing a 36db boost/cut .. stomp-box type GEQs will work just as well (just fewer bands).

You may place any two EQs (graphic or otherwise) in series and produce the same results. Mind your output/input gain levels when using this technique.

MXR also have a fairly compact 10-band graphic EQ pedal. Only +/- 12dB, but might do the trick if you’re chaining 2 or more...

There's another (newer?) version of that boss one - the EQ-200

I have no idea if it's better or different.

I wanted to go cheap and the doubling up really blew my mind. I was thinking a couple of these

Noise and artifacts are really not a concern as much as being able to boost or cut frequencies

It's not a Pultec but it's okay for my synths, drum machines, etc... No noise.
