Yes, I have a Taig CNC mill that I use to make the panels (and CAD, CAM and control software as well). It's a luxury for DIY synth but I already had it for other reasons.

@cartertools I've always enjoyed seeing the numerous ways people create front panels at home. Your infill method looks very nice. Do you have your own CNC machine you use for engraving and cutting those panels?

More Barton Musical Ciruits modules completed, my 9th VCAmix, VCLFO, Attenuate-offset-invert, Diode LPF, Triangle Doubler and Parallel DAC. I took pics of how I paint fill the engraved panels. The squeegee is the key. Also allowing the paint to fully dry.

I've finished building an L-1 power supply.
The R*S Serge are also DIY, and the case too. Maybe I'll post a thread about it as it is a bit special.
I've started DIY with a simple Befaco ring mod and here I am building a complete system including power and case!

I do like all that neon green wire - you can see all the electrons bulging round and round excitedly.

I built this little MS-1 Mini-Sequencer clone for a bit of fun and can't stop playing with it :D. Managed to shrink the size by using smaller pots and moving the led drive circuit to the front board. Still needs a suitable enclosure and patch sockets to finish.

I upgraded from Live 9 to 11 so i needed an interface for CVTools ...

This has 20 outputs, 12 digital & 8 CV.

An interesting experiment. Currently it's using it's own sample clock, which (surprisingly) works well enough using a decent quality oscillator. I'm using it with MacOS in an aggregate device with a NI KA6 which supplies the master clock, i then get rate adjusted to match it. In practice after the first few seconds where the host seems to vary the tx frequency, it settles down & theres no discernable jitter. Out of curiosity I'd like to try & add external clock support. I have GPIO's spare & a few CPU cycles :)

@Kawouddd Loving all the bright colors for knobs and nuts on that NLC system. Crayola Deathstar is certainly a fitting name!

I really need to visit this thread more often.
Here’s another method: get some aluminum, and get the panels printed on vinyl with a sticky back - then drill holes. These cost me about $5 per 1Mu space.

Just about counts as a "build" - Behringer 904A with AmSynths daughter board installed - swaps out the Behringer caps for matched lower value caps as used in the late 60's Moogs.

Took about an hour to convert - most of that time was spent removing the original behringer caps (they are thru-hole, the rest of the behringer circuit is SMT). Just solder sucker and braid.

This now sounds very very nice!

I wanted a mult, rectifier, atennuator/verter and I wanted them all normalled together so I designed & built this thing! Panel by FPE..

Second one is a electro smith fv-1 expander board breakout that I built and designed, uses an 8 position switch for effect selection, panel/pcb from jlcpcb

Buchla 208 aux card mostly build with stuff I had laying around, hence the big Wima's
Functions from left to right:

Seq step amount - random/off/LFO (NE566)
Random voltage trigger - Seq/off
NE566 Osc range - Mid/High/Low (For Low I needed a total of 3 x 10Uf film caps in parallel to get a sensible LFO speed, approx 0,5 Hz)
NE566 Osc - freq adjust (output of the NE566 is routed to the "From Prog" on the 208 panel)
Linear Glide - amount
MO - off/key in (with Linear Glide circuit in series)
CO - off/key in (with Linear Glide circuit in series)
Env decay - amount (inv to prog serves as input)
CO - waveshape level (preamp to prog serves as input)

So been super busy building the last few months, unfortunately been caught up in having too many projects going on at the same time, but working little by little on each one when part availability/funds permitted. Guess it started way back when I got Haible's whole collection of boards back when they were available from RandomSource. So... inevitably they all finish at about the same time! So now I have about 20 projects that are all 95% finished but most really miss a case/enclosure. I've designed a bunch of case designs this year, so a bunch are on the way, but without proper means of testing my designs before sending off to production makes me hold off a bit more... like staring at it for another year is gonna make it fit.

Anyways, to cheer me up from using way too much money on what is mostly just stuff taking up place with no function or box yet, I present to you...

the homeless series

Image

A few minutes old 6voice SMR Ambika, and a couple of sorry looking (but hard working) midipals to keep her company

Image

Probably my awesomest discovery/build this year, a machine that totally transforms and gives you every modern feature you ever dreamt about for your MD. Such a gamechanger, never seen a product so radically improve another ever before. And that product wasnt half bad to start with...

Image

Got a couple of 4ms Pods that fit well in front of my Elektrons. Needed some black modules with them, so built up some Antumbras, a Radio Music (finally) and the buchla comb filter that's still yearning for some last parts. Some of the Antumbras still need some TLC aswell...

Yeah mine is awaiting the wide-bottom WIMAS and the 2.2uF's. I also changed a bunch of the lytics for BP ones, hope that wont matter.
I've made a FPD sketch from the coordinates in the help file, how about you? Maybe we could compare notes.

There is more of this in the 4U section because that is where it all started. This Serge style programmer was from here

Programmer website

It was a straightforward build and luckily worked first time. Being UK based I feel more at home with Sifam knobs, from Thonk, rather than Davies. The panel is white and so is the case via a few coats of spray paint. Blue is in and yellow is out. The colours from my love of Leeds United. The cost is OK as long as you understand you need loads of pots, knobs and switches. Follow the instructions and test fit everything several times. I used different LEDs, yellow, and just matched the spec of the red ones specified. I ran a 0v connection from a labelled jumper point on the PCB to reference to other boats.

Very cool. Nice a sleek.

Which switches do you use?

Thank you.

I used the recommended switches. There’s quite a mechanical part to the build so getting the right fit matters.

Reactivated my Formant polyphonic synthesizer solution from the year 2004 :eurosmoke: and had a go at some old and nearly forgotten software bugs in my UCVM module and my poly keyboard...

It's been a while since I posted here, not building synth modules at the moment:
A Tone Bender clone:

A workalike of the EQD Arpanoid (pretty weird!):

And an enclosure for a 12" guitar speaker which I had kicking around for a long time
18mm pine, hand-cut dovetails with corner miters on the front and Marshall cane "cloth" speaker grille material (a bear to work with, ended up simply glueing it to the baffle with wood glue):

And a bass amp in the living room, 18mm dovetailed oak, HEAVY! :D

Befaco VCMC rework. At first, I made VCMC without fader and buttons in CVthing size,
Now for standalone mod, added full functions and really satisfied with it.
Physical button and knob is good to play.

I finished a Rungler today. I started building it a while ago but broke the 79L09 by placing it totally wrong and didn't have a spare one. I needed some more parts for my next builds so I finally ordered a new regulator the other day and now it's done.
